Clay Center resident Kay E. Brewster, 80, passed away Friday, April 3, 2015, at Edgewood Vista in Hastings, NE. Funeral services were 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at the Clay Center Christian Church in Clay Center, with Pastor Kevin Whitmore officiating. Interment followed at the Clay Center Cemetery. Visitation was Monday from 1–8 p.m., at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel in Clay Center, NE. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family to be designated later. Condolences may be left at www.mclaughlinchapel.com Kay E. (Thomas) Brewster was born March 10, 1935, in Clay Center, NE, to Harold and Florence (Stewart) Thomas. She graduated from Clay Center High School in 1953. She then went on to attend Hastings College, until meeting and married her soul mate, Howard A. Brewster, at the Clay Center Christian Church in Clay Center on June 23, 1954. They were to celebrate their 61st wedding anniversary this year. To this union three children, Tom, Connie and Tim were born. She retired after being employed for 27 years at the FSA Office in Clay Center as an Administration and CRP Program Assistant. Kay was a member of the Clay Center Christian Church and the Clay Center American Legion Auxiliary. Kay’s favorite pastime was dancing, and she loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her greatgrandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Howard of Clay Center, NE; daughter, Connie Skalka of Hastings, NE; son, Tim Brewster and wife, Julie of Kearney, NE; two granddaughters, Haley Sintek of Clay Center, NE, and Hannah Hungerford of Kearney; two grandsons, Cole Malone of Lincoln, NE, and Preston Skalka of Ft. Collins, CO; and five great-grandchildren, Parker, Adelyn, Thaxton and Kyson Sintek and Braelyn Malone. She was preceded in death by her son, Tom, and her parents, Harold and Florence Thomas.
