Grazing Corn Residue: Last week, I shared recent research regarding the Fusarium fungus causing sudden death syndrome on soybean being able to survive best on corn kernels lost during the harvest process and also on corn residue. Grazing corn residue is one way to remove corn kernels lost during the harvest process and reduce volunteer corn for the following year. It also benefits livestock farmers and provides valuable feed. However, many stalks in Nebraska are left ungrazed for various reasons.
