James L. Preissler, 97, of Harvard, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2015, at the Harvard Rest Haven in Harvard. Rosary was held at 6 p.m., Sunday, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Harvard, with Father Julius Tvrdy officiating. Mass of Resurrection was Monday at 10:30 a.m., also at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Visitation was held from 3-6 p.m., Sunday, at St. Joseph’s in Harvard. Burial was in the Harvard Cemetery. James was born on Aug. 20, 1918, in Clay County, NE, to Emanual and Clara Warner Preissler. Jim married Laurine Trausch on Nov. 20, 1941. Before and during WWII, Jim worked for Lockheed Aircraft in Los Angeles, CA. After the war, they moved to rural Harvard, NE, to farm. James was a lifelong member of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Harvard. He was also a member of the Eagles Club in Hastings. Survivors include three sons: Al in Dallas, TX; Tom of Harvard; and Chuck of Hastings; and one daughter, Mary Ann Van Eperen of Harvard; and seven grand children and 11 great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death is his wife, Laurine Trausch Preissler, who preceded him on Nov. 16, 2006, and two sons, Robert and John. Also preceding are four brothers, Tony, Al, Leo and Joe and two sisters, Helen Colburn and Marie Cliff. Memorials may be given to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church or the Harvard Rest Haven, both in Harvard.
