SC girls gain SNC runner-up title

Coming off a 50-44 semifinal win over Heartland in the Southern Nebraska Conference tournament, the Sandy Creek Lady Cougars, in the midst of a five game winning streak, would see the momentum they had picked up over the past two weeks quickly falter as the Superior Lady Wildcats rolled to the SNC tournament champioship title with a 59- 22 win, as Sandy Creek fell to 10-10 with the loss.

Sandy Creek wouldn’t find the hoop until seven and a half minutes into the game, as Superior, behind a 13-0 first quarter run, held a 15-0 lead before the Lady Cougars finally recorded their first bucket of the game at the 6:42 mark of the second period. Superior posted a 32-10 halftime lead, then gained runs of 13-3 in the third quarter and 14-9 in the fourth quarter to gain the 37 point win and the SNC title.
