Hastings resident, Maxine Wells, 96, passed away Saturday, Feb.11, 2017, at Perkins Pavilion - Good Samaritan Village, Hastings, NE.
Memorial services will be Thursday, Feb. 16, 10:30 a.m., at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Glenvil, NE, with Rev. Rob Garton officiating. Burial will be in the Fairfield Cemetery, Fairfield. Memorials may be given to the family to be designated later. Viewing and visitation was Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2017; 1– 5 p.m. and Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017; 1– 5 p.m., at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church. Private condolences may be sent to the family at www.lbvfh.com. Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home & Cremation Center is serving the family.
Maxine was born Aug. 2, 1920, in Fairfield, NE, to Leslie James and Myrtle (Wilson) Wakelin. She graduated from Fairfield High School. Maxine married Bud Wells Nov. 19, 1941 and to this marriage was born nine children: Janis, James, Glenda, Charles, Robert, Ronald, Donald, Patty and Joan. Maxine was a homemaker and lived most of her life in Glenvil, where she was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. During the years, she was active in Cub Scouts, 4-H and the Double Dozen Club in Glenvil and retired from Leverage Tool.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Scott Stahl; two brothers; Robert Wakelin and Bill Wakelin; and eight sisters, Geraldine Steiger, Rogene Kieswetter and Mildred Kahman.

Collins, CO; Donald (Jackie) Wells, Albion, NE; Patty (Mike) Shaw, Sioux City, IA; Joan (Tom) Briese, Albion, NE; Grandchildren: 23. Great-Grandchildren: 39. Great-Great Grandchildren: eight.
