Sutton Juniors sweep Hastings

Post #61 runs record to 13-4, prepares for post-season district tournament action beginnings July 7

A strong two game sweep of the Hastings Runza Junior Legion baseball team set the Sutton Juniors up with a strong finish, as the 13-4 Post 61 crew preps for the upcoming Area-5 District tournament slated for July 7-11, at DLD Park in Sutton.

The sweep would see Sutton come-from-behind in the twin bill, led June 27, at DLD Park, with Sutton erasing deficits of 3-0 and 5-2, to claim a 6-5 win in the opening game, behind a four-run fifth inning. In game two, Sutton held a 3-1 lead after two innings, then fell behind 5-3 after Hastings scored three runs in the top of the third and one more in the top of the fourth to gain the two run lead. Sutton’s offense came to life in the bottom of the fourth inning to score four runs and take a 7-5 lead, before both teams scored one run each in the fifth frame to set the final score at 8-6, Sutton.
