In a second special meeting Wednesday, the Harvard City Council accepted the resignation of Mayor Michael Boyd and appointed another council member.
Once the resignation was approved, Council President Chad Williamson moved into the mayor's position.
Bruce Smith was appointed to the vacant Ward 1 position.
