Former Edgar resident Nicholas George Hansen, 60, passed away Thursday, Aug. 2, at the Sutton Community Home in Sutton. Rosary was prayed at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 7, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sutton. Mass of Christian Burial was 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 8, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sutton, with Father Michael Zimmer officiating. Graveside services were held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 8, at the Ong Cemetery in Ong. Visitation was Tuesday, from 1–5 p.m., at Sutton Memorial Chapel in Sutton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family to be designated later. Condolences may be left at www.suttonmemorial.com. Nicholas George Hansen was born Dec. 7, 1957, in Hastings, to Carl and Eulalia (Leininger) Hansen. He received his education at Lakeside School District #65 and graduated from Sutton High School in 1976. He was a self-employed farmer in the Clay County area. Nick was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and a proud member of the 1975 Sutton American Legion Baseball state championship team. He is survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Dennis and Paula Hansen of Ong; Greg and Linda Hansen of Sutton; sister, Eileen of Lincoln; brothers, Steve Hansen of Ong, and David Hansen of Edgar; aunts, Frances Ambrose of Omaha; Johnin Leininger of Shiner, TX; uncle, Dr. and Mrs. Bernie Leininger of Colorado Springs, CO; and numerous other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; aunt, Madeleine Leininger and uncle, Paul Leininger.
