Many storms create flash flood hazards

September started out with consistent rainfall, resulting in flash flood warnings and watches and flood warnings. Clay County experienced its highest rainfall on Sept. 2, with 2.45 inches; 1.60 and 1.47 inches fell on Sept. 1 and 3, respectively, according to NeRain reports.

The excessive rainfall placed Clay in a flash flood watch. Various areas around the county showed signs of the excess rainfall, including flooding in ditches, fields, and the extreme rising of the Little Blue River, which runs through the southern part of the county.
