Larry Alan Munroe, age 78, of Henderson, died Saturday, Sept. 15, at York. Larry was born on May 28, 1940, to Lawrence and Mildred (Papenhagen) Munroe in Hastings. He served his country as a member of the United States Navy from May 27, 1958, to May 26, 1964. Larry was a repairman for K & N Energy (Sutton/Henderson). On May 25, 2003, he was united in marriage to Deb Zajicek in Las Vegas. Larry was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in York, where he sang in the choir. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing, hunting and gardening. He enjoyed woodworking and was a Husker fan. He is survived by his wife, Deb of Henderson, sons, Damon (Brenda) Munroe of Lincoln; and Devin (special friend Barb) Munroe of Kearney; daughters, Cindy (James) Virden of Medina, OH; and Sondra (Ali) Moghadam of Lincoln, and stepchildren. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Mackenzie, Courtney, Nicole, Olivia, Tory, Clark, Lily and Felicia; step-grandchildren: Caden, Kaylee, Ryker, Rhett, Violet and Easton, great-grandchild Adrian, and two sisters Karen (Dean) Hawthorne and Gwen (Al) Hoylman, both of Hastings. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 20, at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in York with the Reverend Megan Clausen officiating. Burial with military honors will be that afternoon at 2 p.m., at Greenwood Cemetery in Trumbull. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation. Visitation was on Wednesday from 1-8 p.m., with his family greeting friends from 6:30-8 p.m., that evening at the mortuary in York. Condolences may be left for the family at www.metzmortuary.com.
