Ross speaks of troubled nursing home industry and the key components that are impacting the industry

Leaders within the nursing home industry will call on the Nebraska Legislature’s Appropriation Committee and Health and Human Services on Friday, Oct. 19, to begin discussions on exploring different ways in which to pay skilled and assisted nursing facilities, according to Ron Ross, president of Rural Health Development (RHD), based out of Cambridge and Lincoln.

Ross’s company manages the Sutton Community Home and Hillcrest View Assisted Living Center, along with 19 other facilities in Nebraska, Iowa, South Dakota and Wyoming. Ross is no stranger to government and the nursing home industry. Ross, along with Roger Petrik, started RHD in 1990, but it was in 1999 that then-governor Mike Johanns called on Ross to bring his expertise to the state capitol and serve the State of Nebraska as the director of the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.
