Minute Milkers 4-H club celebrating 70 years

Article Image Alt Text

Kids are happily tossing handfuls of candy out to the crowd as the adults and leaders smile and wave. It’s the second parade they’ve been in this summer, and at each parade, their float is adorned with cutouts of farm animals and a large barn, as well as signs in the back stating the group’s 70th-year anniversary.

The Minute Milkers 4-H Club, founded in February 1948, began with leaders Royce Hendrix (leader) and Earl Hoppens (assistant leader). When the club first came into existence, members were of Fairfield; however, members are now from Fairfield, Deweese, Edgar, Glenvil, and Clay Center.

When it first began the club had seven members, three of which were Lloyd Valentine, Jenelle Fitzke, and Duane Schliep.
