A Colorado woman led the Nebraska State Patrol on what turned out to be a near 30-mile high speed pursuit along Highway 6, running through Clay County and Fillmore County before officers of the Friend Police Department used a tire deflation device to slow down the vehicle, allowing the state patrol to apprehend 46-year-old Donetta Phipps of the Thorton, CO area. Thorton is a suburb of Denver, located in the northeast area of the Denver Metropolitan area.
Phipps, according to the Colorado Bureau of Investigations, was ordered to relinquish her daughter Kyley Phipps at 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 7, but instead Phipps went on the run with the girl instead of following the order to relinquish the girl, as the non-custodial parent of the 2 year old.
An Amber Alert was issued in Colorado at 7:25 p.m., Thursday, which put police agencies around the country on alert to find the woman and the young girl, while being on the lookout for a 2012 Nissan Pathfinder.
