Supporting the Fillies

Fans from all over made the trek to Lincoln Southwest High School, where the Sutton Fillies would take on Freeman in the first round of the state volleyball tournament Nov. 13. Here, Jered Lemkau, doing his best to portray Sutton head coach Adam Kuntz, joins in with the rest of the student body to cheer on the Fillies. The American Legion Auxiliary, Warren

Veteran’s Day programs were held at all three Clay County High Schools in honor and remembrance of all military veterans throughout the county. In Sutton, guest speaker Tom Ohnesorge addressed the audience about his military experiences and what being a veteran means to him.

Harvard History Falls Last Week

Damaged by a partial collapse during the overnight hours of Oct. 5, a big piece of the community of Harvard’s history has been fully taken down and removed from its location at the south end of Harvard’s business district, located at the corner of Clay and Oak Streets. The building was felled and removed by G & G Dozer Company of Caney, Kansas, during a multi-day removal of the damaged building.

Recounts Set in Clay Center, Fairfield Races

The 2014 General Election, with numerous write-in candidates reaching out for local offi ces in Sutton and Harvard, as well as highly challenged races in Clay Center, Glenvil and Fairfield, made for an active day of voting for Clay County voters. Two automatic recounts will take place in the races for the Fairfield and Clay Center City Council positions.
