Christy Olson

Christy Olson

Christy Marie Olson, the daughter of Howard and Evelyn (Reiman) Olson, was born on Dec. 1, 1970, in Superior. She passed away on May 4, 2022, at the Bryan LGH Medical Center West at Lincoln at the age of 51 years, 5 months, 3 days. Christy was a donor and gave the ultimate gift of life to be cherished by many.

She grew up in Nelson where she attended grade school and was a high school graduate. She then earned an Associate Degree in Business from Southeast Community College in Lincoln. She was currently employed at CPI in Lawrence. Christy was baptized in the Presbyterian church and was a member of the Catholic Church in Nelson. Christy had two children, Bailey Marie and Colton Lukas.

She was a member of the Nelson Legion Auxiliary, Altar Society of the Catholic Church and helped with CCD classes.

Diana Noack

Diana Noack, 58, of Harvard died May 8, 2022, at CHI St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island. Celebration of Life service was at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 14 at Harvard First Methodist Church, with Pastor Buck Linton-Hendrick officiating. Burial followed in the Harvard Cemetery. Diana was born on July 13, 1963, in Hastings, to Anthony and Mary (Fielder) Schumm. She grew up and graduated from Harvard High School in 1981.

On May 14, 1994, Diana married Daniel Noack in Harvard. The couple lived in Harvard and she worked as a waitress and cook for 20 years at the Black Dog Diner and was known for her prime rib and cinnamon rolls. She also worked at Harvard Food Mart for many years. Her most recent job was cook at Harvard Rest Haven Nursing Home.

Vergene Gunn

Vergene L. Gunn, 91, passed away Wed., May 4, 2022, at Westfield Quality Care in Aurora. A celebration of life service was 10 a.m., Saturday, May 7, 2022, at Williams Funeral Home in Edgar, with Rev. Ethan Feistner officiating.

Vergene L. Gunn was born Nov. 28, 1930, in Hastings to Norbert and Edna (Ahlstrom) Nelson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Ong. She graduated from Edgar High School in 1949. Vergene married Keith (Tink) Gunn Feb. 26, 1950, at her parents’ home in Edgar and they had a family of five.

Vergene was a homemaker and mom for several years. During that time she also played the pipe organ at the Presbyterian Church in Edgar. Later she served as organist at the Church of the Plains, accompanied at Sandy Creek, and played for numerous weddings, funerals, and memorial services. She also taught piano lessons for a few years.

Bernice (Nunnenkamp) Trautman

Bernice (Nunnenkamp) Trautman

Bernice (Nunnenkamp) Trautman was born Sept. 18, 1926, on the family farm south of Aurora. Her mother and father, Elizabeth and William Nunnenkamp, along with her six brothers welcomed her into the family. Bernice began her domestic career ironing shirt collars standing on a chair at the ironing board at the age of five. From that time on she was her mother’s “right hand helper” which eventually included helping with the care of an additional brother, twin sisters, and the youngest and final sister. Bernice’s hard work ethic continued through the years. She found much joy in all the work that came to her whether hard or easy.

Walter Ulmer

Walter Ulmer

Walter Edwin Ulmer, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away May 4, 2022, in Sutton, at the age of 96. He was surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest.

Walter was born to Jacob and Julia Ulmer, the youngest of 13, on Nov. 1, 1925 in Burke, SD. He graduated from Benedict high school in 1942 and joined the Army in 1945. He returned to Sutton after his deployment to Korea. He remained a life long member of the American Legion. He did custom combine work and coowned The Pool Hall with his brother. He always said he loved working with farm equipment.

Walter married Donna May Bauer on May 23, 1954. They shared a wonderful 68 years together and had three children; Mike, Cyndi and Theresa. Walter, or Wally as known by many, managed the Clay Center Co-Op Grain Co. and raised their three children in Clay Center.

Sutton resident Herman R. Ulmer, 98, passed away Friday, May 6, 2022, at his home in Sutton.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Friday, May 13, 2022, at Emmanuel Reformed Church in Sutton, with Pastor Carl Gobelman officiating. Interment will follow at the Sutton Cemetery in Sutton. Visitation is Thursday, from 1 p.m.–7 p.m., with the family present from 4 p.m.–6 p.m., at Sutton Memorial Chapel in Sutton.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family to be designated later.

Verna Coxbill

Verna Coxbill

Verna was born near Chester on Jan. 21, 1935, to John and Minola (Durham) Duey. Verna married Duane Coxbill June 19, 1953 and lived near Edgar until Duane’s death in 2005. She moved into Edgar, and after spending two years in the Edgar nursing home was moved to the Lancaster Rehab Center in Lincoln in 2015 where she resided until her passing on May 3, 2022.

Caleb Ladehoff

Caleb Michael Ladehoff was born Sept. 1, 2004, in Hastings to Jon and Kristi (Hamer) Ladehoff. He passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at Bryan Medical Center West Campus in Lincoln at the age of 17. Caleb gave his heart to Jesus as a young boy and is now fully restored and in the presence of his Savior.

Caleb grew up in Sutton and was proud to be a Mustang. He was an avid weightlifter and competed in football, basketball, and track and field. He was a member of the Sutton FFA chapter and a member of the youth group at Stockham Community Church.

Sutton resident Dennis James Boehler, 63, passed away Monday, April 25, 2022, in Lawton, OK.

Funeral services were Monday, May 2, 2022, at Sutton Memorial Chapel in Sutton with Pastor Michelle Reed officiating. Interment followed at the Sutton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family to be designated later.

Dennis was born on May 11, 1958, to Lawrence William and Rosalene (True) Boehler of Sutton. He spent his life in Sutton and received his education at Sutton Public Schools, graduating in 1976. On Aug. 21, 1992, he married Cynthia (Cindy) in his parent’s backyard in Sutton.
