Caleb Ladehoff

Caleb Ladehoff

Caleb Michael Ladehoff was born Sept. 1, 2004, in Hastings to Jon and Kristi (Hamer) Ladehoff. He passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at Bryan Medical Center West Campus in Lincoln at the age of 17. Caleb gave his heart to Jesus as a young boy and is now fully restored and in the presence of his Savior.

Caleb grew up in Sutton and was proud to be a Mustang. He was an avid weightlifter and competed in football, basketball, and track and field. He was a member of the Sutton FFA chapter and a member of the youth group at Stockham Community Church.

Sutton resident Dennis James Boehler, 63, passed away Monday, April 25, 2022, in Lawton, OK.

Funeral services were Monday, May 2, 2022, at Sutton Memorial Chapel in Sutton with Pastor Michelle Reed officiating. Interment followed at the Sutton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family to be designated later.

Dennis was born on May 11, 1958, to Lawrence William and Rosalene (True) Boehler of Sutton. He spent his life in Sutton and received his education at Sutton Public Schools, graduating in 1976. On Aug. 21, 1992, he married Cynthia (Cindy) in his parent’s backyard in Sutton.

Bernard J. Skalka

Bernard J. Skalka

Bernard James Skalka passed away peacefully on Jan. 12, 2022, at the age of 85. He passed from this life at his home in Cypress, CA, surrounded by family.

Also known as Bernie and Bud, he was born on Dec. 3, 1936, in Fairfield, the oldest child of James Thomas Skalka and Anna Louise (Bednar) Skalka. He and his brother Dennis grew up on the family farm located two miles west of Deweese. He graduated from Fairfield High School in 1954. He married Theresa Karmazin of Lawrence, in 1958 while both were attending the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. He graduated in 1959 with a Master’s degree in Theater Arts, with the intention of teaching technical theater (lighting and set design).

After teaching at UNL for a year, he moved the family to River Falls, WI, where he taught at Wisconsin State University for several years. The family then moved to Normal, IL, where he taught for several years at Illinois State College.

Lincoln resident Larry A. Schmer, 78, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2022, at his home in Lincoln.

A celebration of life service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m., Friday, April 29, 2022, at Sutton Memorial Chapel in Sutton with Dan Warnes officiating. The family will greet prior to the service from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Inurnment will follow at the Sutton Cemetery. In honoring his wish to be cremated, there will not be a viewing or visitation.

Gordon L. “Gordy” Sinner

Hastings resident Gordon L. “Gordy” Sinner, 90, passed away Sunday, April 3, 2022, at his home.

Services were at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 7, at First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hastings, with Pastor Joel Remmers officiating. Burial with military rites by Hastings Military Honor Guard took place at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Memorials may be given to First St. Paul’s God Made Me Pre-School Program at First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Hastings is serving the family.

Gordon was born April 27, 1931, in Hastings to Floyd and Marguerite (Traudt) Sinner. He graduated from Sutton High School in 1949. Gordon served in the U.S. Marines Corp from 1952 to 1954 and was stationed in Japan during the Korean Conflict. Gordon married Lucille Kruse in Grand Island on March 9, 1955. She preceded him in death on Sept. 1, 1995. Gordon then married Barbara (Watson) Thaut on July 28, 2000.

Darren D Krull, 54, of Elwood, passed away April 7, 2022, in the line of duty while serving his community.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at Our Redeemer LCMS in Elwood, with Pastor Aaron Witt officiating. Visitation was 4-7 p.m., Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at Our Redeemer LCMS, with family present. Burial will be in the Hanover Cemetery near Glenvil. Murray Wilson Funeral Directing of Hastings is serving the family.

John Osborne George Schoneberg was born in Lewellen, on Aug. 16, 1947, to John E. and Audree (Roberts) Schoneberg. He had a great childhood in Lewellen hunting, fishing, and riding horses with many lifelong friends. After graduating from Lewellen Rural H.S. in 1965, he went on to Chadron State College to become a teacher.

Sutton resident Naomi Griess, 98, died Sunday, March 27, 2022, at Legacy Square in Henderson.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, March 31, 2022, at Sutton Memorial Chapel in Sutton, with the Free German Reformed Salem Church Elders officiating. Interment will follow at the Free German Reformed Salem Church Cemetery near Sutton. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 1 to 7 p.m., with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m., at Sutton Memorial Chapel in Sutton.

A luncheon for family and friends will follow the services at the Sutton American Legion.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be given to the family to be designated later.

Jerry Lee Ritchey

Jerry Lee Ritchey

On March 2, 2022, Jerry Lee Ritchey, 81, of Malcom, left this earthly world to begin a new life with his Lord and Savior, surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and his soulmate in life.

On Aug. 11, 1940, Edward and Viola Ritchey welcomed their first-born, Jerry, in Lincoln. Joining in years to come were siblings Caroline Vander-Meer of Washington, James Ritchey of Lincoln, Mavis Canfield of Lincoln, and Marvin Ritchey, who is welcoming him to heaven.

Growing up in Lincoln, Jerry attended Lincoln Northeast High School, participating in Future Farmers of America, excelling in a variety of sports, and made it to the Nebraska State High School Wrestling Tournament, he graduated from high school in 1958.
