Maxine “Mickie” Daum

Maxine “Mickie” Wanda (Cook) Schneider Daum, 95 years, 10 months and 14 days, died Sunday, June 30, 2019, at the Sutton Community Home, Sutton.

In honoring Mickie’s wish to be cremated and to not have a service, a private internment will be in the Spring Creek Cemetery, Ruskin, at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Sutton Community Home Foundation to assist in their new facility update or to the Federated Church, Sutton.

Mickie was born Aug. 16, 1923, in Cozad, to Everett and Roxy (McKim) Cook. She attended Cozad Public School. She married Donald Schneider on March 12, 1943. After Donald’s death (1990) she married Robert Daum of Fairfield on Feb. 14, 2001 (deceased 2005).

Clay Center resident Kay Frances Friend, 76, passed away June 18, 2019, at Mary Lanning Healthcare in Hastings.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 22, 2019, at the United Church of Christ in Clay Center, with Rev. Ethan Feistner officiating. Interment followed at the Clay Center Cemetery. Visitation was Friday, from 4-8 p.m., at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel in Clay Center.

Teresa Lynn Kenedy, 54, passed to a better place Tuesday, May 14, 2019, at the family farm located near Harvard.

A memorial service will be held to celebrate Teresa’s life at 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 25, 2019, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where Teresa was a member. The church is located at 1725 Crane Ave., Hastings. Bishop Jim Bono will officiate. In honoring her wish for cremation there is no viewing or visitation. A lunch will be served following the service.

She was born in Las Vegas, NV, Sept. 13, 1964, and is the daughter of Max and Betty (Conklin) Switzer. She was married to Chad Burke for a short time and later to Daniel W. Kenedy, both marriages ended in divorce.

Hastings resident Robert C. Jones Sr., 81, passed away Thursday, June 6, 2019, at CHI Health St. Francis, Grand Island.

Memorial services are 2 p.m., Thursday, June 13, at Butler Volland Chapel in Hastings, with Pastor Tom Murray officiating. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation will be 9 a.m.–8 p.m., Wednesday, with family present 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Larry Swanson

Larry Swanson, 68, passed away peacefully at his home in Missoula on Monday, April 8, 2019. He was born on July 28, 1950, in Hebron, as the son of Patricia (Mileger) and Robert Swanson. Larry grew up in the small farming community of Edgar, where he worked on his family farm and always had a love for farm life. He attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln and earned a Ph.D. in economics in 1980. He married his wife, Pam (Kluver), the love of his life, that same year. Pam and Larry had two sons, Spencer, born February 1981, and Dustin, born March 1984. During this time Larry worked at UNL as the Director of the Great Plains Policy Center for Great Plains Studies, while also handling consulting work based in Washington, D.C.

Former Trumbull resident Martha Sue Ginn, 76, passed away Monday, June 3, 2019, at Harvard Rest Haven, Harvard.

Services were 2 p.m., Thursday, June 6, at Butler Volland Chapel in Hastings, with Chaplain John Mueller officiating. The family requested casual attire if attending service and visitation. Burial was at Greenwood Cemetery in Trumbull. Visitation was 5:30-7:30 p.m., Wednesday, with the family present, and one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Harvard Rest Haven.

Martha was born July 1, 1942, in Marshall, TX, to Richard E. and Dorothy (Williams) Sharp. She married Wilbur Ocker in September 1958, in Texas. They moved to Fairfield and then to Giltner, and later divorced.

Gene D. Andersen

Gene D. Andersen was born Dec. 29, 1934 to John and Dora (Larsen) Andersen in Clay County NE. He passed peacefully from this life May 26, 2019, at his daughter’s home in Lincoln.

Gene graduated from Ong Public High School and took over the family hardware store in Ong. He married Gloria Shuck on June 7, 1953. To this union they were blessed with four children, Bryan, Vickie, Crystal and John. He lived his life in Clay County and will be remembered for his “stories” and multiple business ventures; from the start of his Christmas Tree business in 1964 to his favorite business “The Nut House.”

As an expression of sympathy, donations may be mailed to Vickie to be used for a memorial the family has planned. PO Box 323, Edgar, NE 68935.

He is preceded in death by his parents, mother and father in-law Elmer and Lillian (Kirkhoff) Shuck; brother, Gerald Andersen; son, Bryan Andersen; wife, Gloria; grandparents, and many uncles, aunts and in-laws.

Jack L. Mankamyer

Jack Laverne Mankamyer was born April 20, 1931, in Ashland, to John H. and Irma P. Mankamyer.

He moved many times, throughout his adolescent years, to various towns in Nebraska. Jack was a four sport star athlete, as well as an outstanding student, at Sutton High School, in Sutton, where he graduated in 1949. He went on to attend the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting.

Jack served in the Army as 1st Lieutenant, and he proudly shared he was stationed at Camp Carson in Colorado during his Army days. He later received his Master’s Degree in Business from the University of Denver.

Jack was a Certified Public Accountant for over 40 years. He was also a part owner of the Arrowhead Development Group, and an original board member of Vail Resorts.

Sandra L. Ritterbush

Sandra L. Ritterbush of Ong, was born Oct. 24, 1972, at Fort Monmoute, N.J. She departed this life Thursday, May 2, 2019, at Mary Lanning Healthcare in Hastings, at the age of 46 years.

Sandra is survived by her children, Laurie Vang, of Hastings; Andrew Vang, of Ong, and Matthew Sanchez of New York, NY; her parents, Larry and Janice (Jones) Ritterbush of Ong, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Sandra was a long time resident of Ong, but grew up in Albuquerque, NM. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Lincoln resident Irene Ida Kriutzfield, 94, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at High Plains Alzheimer’s Special Care Center in Lincoln.

Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 11, 2019, at the Clay Center Christian Church in Clay Center, with Rev. Arick Johanson officiating. Interment followedat the Fairfield Cemetery in Fairfield. Visitation was one hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Condolences may be left at www.mclaughlinchapel.com Irene was born Jan. 13, 1925, to Frank E. and Mary L. (Hoppens) Lemkau. She received her education in Clay Center and graduated from Clay Center High School.

On June 27, 1947, she married Archie E. Kriutzfield. She was employed as an Office Manager for Crosby Guenzel Law Firm until her retirement.
