Ruth K. Nelson

Ruth K. Nelson, 89, of Harvard, died Tuesday, March 26, 2019, at Mary Lanning Healthcare in Hastings.

Funeral services were Friday, March 29, 2019, at 2 p.m. at the Harvard United Methodist church, with Rev. D.R. “Buck” Linton-Hendrick officiating. Visitation was Thursday at the church from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Burial was at the Harvard Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Harvard United Methodist Church, Clay County Historical Society or donor choice.

Arrangements are with Murray Wilson Funeral Directing of Hastings.

Ruth was born April 29, 1929, at home in the Brickhouse in Clay County to George and Clara Wichelt Koehler. She attended East Lynn school and graduated from Harvard High School in 1946. Following graduation, Ruth attended Hastings College and worked in the Dean’s office.

Sutton resident Lucille K. (Carlson) Robley, 97, passed away Monday, April 1, 2019, at the Sutton Community Home in Sutton.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 6, 2019, at Hope Reformed Church in Sutton, with Rev. Scott Henry officiating. Interment following at the Sutton Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, from 1–8 p.m., with the family greeting friends from 5–7 p.m., at Sutton Memorial Chapel in Sutton.

Former Franklin resident Levi Patrick Jester, 21, of Fairfield, passed away Monday, March 25, 2019, as a result of an automobile accident.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 30, 2019, at the Clay Center Christian Church, with Pastor Scott Randall officiating. Interment followed at the Fairfield Cemetery. Visitation was Saturday, from noon until 2 p.m., at the church.

Former Clay Center resident, Frank DeJung Jr., 90, passed away Friday, March 22, 2019, at the Central Nebraska Veterans Home in Kearney.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Clay Center, with Rev. Rob Garton officiating. Interment will follow at the Clay Center Cemetery. Visitation was held Tuesday, March 26, 2019, from 4-8 p.m., with family present from 5-7 p.m., at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel in Clay Center.

Fairfield resident Kevin W. Johnson, 18, passed away Friday, March 22, 2019, as the result of a motorcycle accident.

Celebration of Life is 3 p.m., Saturday, March 30, at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Hastings, with Rev. Jessica Palys officiating. The family kindly requests casual attire be worn if attending celebration of life services. Private family burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Wounded Warrier Project.

Book signing will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church. Private condolences may be sent to the family at www.lbvfh.com. Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home & Cremation Center is serving the family.

Born Oct. 21, 1939 to Herman and Thelma Nale of Bloomington, IN. Marriage to Intelligence Officer Robert A. Jensen USAF brought her to Nebraska. Married 39 yrs. Member of the First United Methodist Church Harvard. She spent many years as a dispatcher for the Clay County Sheriff’s Office in Clay Center, NE. She was certified through the Nebraska State Patrol on DataMax, NLETS, NCIC, and NCIS state and national crime information centers. Member of Nebraska Juvenile Justice Assoc. and NESCA. She also served as a 911 dispatcher in Hastings. Later, her passion to help others found her serving as a Certified Nurse’s Aide in which she found very fulfilling. Upon moving to Lincoln, until an opening to work for Holmes Lake Manor as a CNA, she worked a short time for the Lincoln Correctional Facility.

John K. Burt

John Keith Burt, known by everyone as JB, was born in Hastings on June 26, 1957, to Keith Remy and Marjorie Lucille Lovegrove Burt. He passed away following a heart attack on March 14, 2019, at the age of 61. He was the third of Keith and Marjorie’s four children and the only son. During his first couple years the family lived on the Harvard air force base. In 1960, the family moved to the Burt homestead south of Grafton. JB attended school in Geneva, graduating from Geneva High School.

Roger Burdick

Roger Burdick of Edgar, the son of Gail Ross and Bertha Minnie (Hoffman) Burdick, was born April 20, 1938, at his grandparents’ house on Goose Creek near Elsmere, NE. He departed this life on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2019, at his home in Edgar, at the age of 80 years.

Roger moved to Edgar in 1948, where he attended grade school and high school. He loved riding and breaking horses in his younger years. Roger loved being able to spend time with his kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Roger is proceeded in death by his father and mother.

He is survived by his children: Nicole Skinner and significant other Ryan Hinrichs, Eric Burdick, Richard and Evia Burdick, Valerie Burnett, step-daughter Jill and Andy Anderson, step-son Dustin Nebe and significant other Amy Behrens, and step-son Shawn Nebe. He has 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Lyle and Carol Burdick, and sister, Deloris and the late-Aubrey Wilson.

Karen Moncrief, age 73, of Lincoln, formerly of Aurora, passed away Monday, Feb. 25, 2019, at Southlake Village Rehabilitation and Care Center.

Memorial service was held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 2, at the Stockham Community Church. Rev. Paul Nauman officiated. Interment was in the Harvard Cemetery, prior to the Memorial service at 10 a.m. Visitation was from 5-7 p.m., Friday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Karen Kay Moncrief, the daughter of Wilbert Fred and Helen D. (Nelson) Klein, was born in Palmer on March 19, 1945 and passed away in Lincoln on Feb. 25, 2019, at the age of 73.
