Yost, Susan Daly (Reagan) Nov. 8, 1945 - Aug. 7, 2017. Suzi Daly (Reagan) Yost died peacefully on Aug. 7, at Aksarben Senior Living in Omaha at age 71. Suzi was born in Paducah, KY on Nov. 8, 1945, to Harry and Elizabeth (Osteen) Reagan. Her family moved to Omaha where she attended Benson High School and later went on to earn a Bachelor of  Education in 1967 from the University of Nebraska– Lincoln. She was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority, an Alpha Lambda Delta Honorary and met husband Ronald Yost, an Alpha Tau Omega, through Greek life. They were married on Jan. 21, 1967, in Lincoln and moved to Milwaukee, WI, where Suzi taught elementary school. After several stops around the country, they eventually settled in Omaha in 1976, where Suzi retired from teaching and they raised their four children.

Graveside services to be held Sept. 17, 2017

There will be a graveside memorial service for Raymond and Brigid Lohmeier on Sunday, Sept. 17, at 10:15 a.m., at the Sutton Catholic Cemetery. The service will be followed by a gathering at the American Legion Hall in Sutton at 11 a.m. We look forward to celebrating with our family and my parent’s local Sutton friends. Eldon L. Benson Sept. 18, 1940 - Sept. 4, 2017

Eldon Lee Benson, 76 years 11 months and 17 days, of Ong passed away at 8:50 a.m., on Sept. 4, at his home in Hastings with family at his side. Eldon was born in Ong on Sept. 18, 1940, to Lynn and Ethel Johnson Benson. The third of three children, he attended school in Ong, graduating in 1958. He then went to Fairbury Junior College for two years, where he attained All American status as a star player for the basketball team. He then transferred to Kearney State College where he also excelled as a basketball player and graduated with a teaching and coaching degree. He taught at Bloomington, Republican City and Sandy Creek. He loved his students and they knew it; many kept in touch even years after graduating. He met the love of his life while in college and was united in marriage to Judith Kennedy on June 3, 1962.

Norma J. Carlson Nov. 23, 1930 - Sept. 4, 2017

Saronville resident, Norma Jean Carlson, 86, passed away Monday, Sept. 4, at the Sutton Community Home in Sutton.Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday,Sept. 7, at Sutton Memorial Chapel in Sutton with Vicar Tim Stacy officiating. Interment will follow at the Saron Lutheran Cemetery near Saronville. Visitation was Wednesday, from 1– 8 p.m., with the family present from 7–8 p.m., at Sutton Memorial Chapel. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Saron Lutheran Cemetery. Condolences may be left at www.suttonmemorial.com Norma was born Nov. 23, 1930, to Ben and Margaret (Grand) Cyckosz in Denver. The family moved to Hastings when Norma was 12 years old. She graduated from Hastings St. Cecilia High School. On Feb. 11, 1950, she married Harold Carlson and to this union seven children were born. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in February 2010. Norma was an excellent cook and seamstress.

Kenneth L. Grossman Dec. 22, 1938 - Aug. 31, 2017

Kenneth Lynn Grossman, 78, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 31, at Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach, MI. He was born in Nuckolls County on Dec. 22, 1938, the first son of Kenneth and Dorothy (Blevins) Grossman. He was a member of the Church of Christ, Angus being baptized in the Little Blue River near Angus. He graduated from Nelson High School with the Class of ‘56 and was married in Zion Lutheran Church in Clay Center on March 29, 1959, to Marjorie Lobeda. They shared their lives together for 58 years and were blessed with two sons, Kenneth L. Grossman II (companion, Robin), Dudley Grossman (Laura) and one daughter, Rebecca Parker (Ralph); six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.Ken served in the United States Air Force as an air traffic controller. He was honorably discharged in 1961; then graduated from the Federal Aviation Academy in Oklahoma City, OK, the same year. He retired from the Federal Aviation Administration after 29 years of service.

Sutton resident, Betty L. (Nowka) Steinhauer, 85, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 29, at the Sutton Community Home in Sutton. Betty’s wishes were to be cremated. A private family graveside service will be at the Sutton Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family at 2360 Road 321, Sutton, NE 68979, to be designated at a later date. Condolences may be left at www.suttonmemorial.com. Betty was born on Nov. 8, 1931, to Frank Alvin Nowka and Ida Marie (Hinesh) Nowka in Grand Island. Betty graduated from Hastings High School, Hastings in 1949. She then attended Lincoln General School of Nursing, graduating as a Registered Nurse in September 1952. Betty was united in marriage to Stanley P. Steinhauer at St. Paul’s Methodist Church, in Lincoln on March 4, 1954.

Iona Elifritz, 98, of Edgar passed away on Sunday, Sept. 3, at Columbus Care and Rehabilitation Center in Columbus. Funeral services will be held this Thursday 1 p.m., Sept. 7, at the Church of the Plains in Edgar. Rev. Kathryn Bates will be officiating. Burial will be in the Edgar Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at wmsfh.com. Williams Funeral Home of Edgar is in charge of the arrangements. Iona was born Aug. 4, 1919, to Charley and Jessie (Bowman) Skinner at Oak. She attended the Marshall country school from first grade to the eighth grade. Then graduated from Edgar High School with the class of 1938. She had her 79th year class reunion in 2017. Iona was united in marriage to Marvin Elifritz on Nov. 19, 1938. To this union were born two daughters:Virginia Kay and Doris Renea.She was lifelong area resident and helped her husband with the family farm.
