Sutton resident Alyce Mary Leininger, 93, passed away Sunday, April 16, 2023, at her home in Sutton.

A Rosary was prayed at 10 a.m., Friday, April 21, 2023, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sutton with Mass of Christian Burial following at 10:30 a.m. Father Doug Daro officiated. Interment was at Calvary Cemetery near Sutton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family to be designated later. Condolences may be left at www. suttonmemorial.com. Born Febr. 23, 1930, Alyce was the daughter of Fred and Etta Leininger and grew up on a farm near Sutton. She attended Sutton High School and went on to attend Marymount College in Salina, KS, for one year, before embarking on a career in teaching that would span over 40 years.

Pam Griess, 68, passed away Thursday, March 16, 2023, at her home in Madera, CA.

Pam was born March 30, 1955 in Los Angeles, CA, to Benjamin T. Griess and Lorraine M. (Ross) Griess. She graduated from Fremont High School in Fremont, in 1973. She continued her education and graduated from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. Pam was a free spirit and lived in the states of AZ, HI, WA, OR, and finally settled in Madera, CA. At the time of her death, Pam was employed as a Supervising Psychiatric Social Worker at Valley State Prison in Fresno, CA. Pam began her career in February 1990, working in mental health positions at CA Medical Facility, San Quentin, Pelican Bay, and Napa State Hospital. She was hired at Valley State Prison in January 2013. Pam loved the outdoors. She was a certified scuba instructor, loved hiking, snorkeling, scuba diving, and loved all animals.

Raymond James Bailey, 87, of Norwalk, IA, was called home by his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, April 8, 2023, at Kavanagh House in Des Moines, IA.

Jim was born Nov. 14, 1935, to Joseph Bailey and Dorothy (Daker) Bailey. He attended school in Cedar Rapids, graduating from Roosevelt High School in 1954. After graduation, Jim enlisted in the United States Marine Corp, serving from 1954– 1956. After completion of his military service Jim attended college; graduated in 1963 from Colorado State College in Greeley, CO and embarked on his childhood dream of being a math teacher. While attending college in Greeley, Jim met Marilyn Ochsner, his loving wife of over 60 years. They were united in marriage in Loveland, CO on Sept. 8, 1962. To this union three children were born Mark, Gregg, and Cheryl.

Mildred Pauline Jacobson, 94, long-time resident of Edgar, passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at Heritage Crossing in Geneva.

Mildred was born Oct. 4, 1928, in Centralia, KS, to LeRoy and Viola (Strong) Hyde. She attended elementary school in Sabetha, KS. Her family then moved to Clay Center where she completed her formal education attending high school. She was united in marriage with Burdon Jacobson April 16, 1949, in Marysville, KS. This union was blessed with two daughters, Kathy and Paula. Mildred was first and foremost a farm wife with all of the duties that it required. She worked at Louies Market in Ong and Central Market in Edgar as well as being an Avon representative for many years. Mildred also worked at various local nursing homes as a nursing assistant. After retiring she was employed with the Sugar Shack Candle Shop in the factory.

Robert Harold Culver Sr., 97, of Lincoln passed away March 14, 2023. He was Born in Silver Creek, to William and Hilda (Rann) Culver July 11, 1925. While working for the Bell telephone company, he met Monita Heitman in 1946 and they married in Lincoln in 1947. Together they raised four children. Robert was a proud Navy veteran of WWII seeing action at Iwo Jima, Okinawa and Tokyo Bay. He served with his shipmates on the destroyer Samuel N. Moore 747. He retired from Lincoln Telephone and Telegraph in 1990. During his life he took great pride in volunteering with Lions International, Frank Woods Telephone Museum, Roller Skating Museum, managing multiple annual reunions for his Samuel N. Moore destroyer shipmates and he attended Prairie Home Methodist Church.
