Joanne ‘Jan’ L. Hornbacher, age 87, of York died Friday, May 2, 2025, in York. She was born on April 19, 1938, to Albert and Lillian Arp in Glenvil, NE. On November 30, 1958, she was united in marriage to Verdell ‘Del’ Hornbacher in Sutton.

Jan was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker that enjoyed sewing, doing puzzles, gardening, cooking, collecting Boyd Bears and TY Beanie Babies, and loved to eat pizza. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and family. Jan is survived by her children Beverly (Larry) Blum of McCool Junction, Karen (Randy) Suhr of McCool Junction, Bruce (Kelly) Hornbacher of York, and Todd (Tina) Hornbacher of McCool Junction; 20 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; sister Donna Kleinschmidt of Sutton, nieces, nephews and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Del; sister, Norma; and great-grandson, Jaxson Hornbacher.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 8, 2025, at First United Methodist Church in York, with the Reverend Trudy Hanke officiating. Interment was at 2:00 p.m. at the Sutton Cemetery in Sutton.
