Lonnie Ned Salmon was born Feb 23, 1953, to Wilbur and Arlene Salmon in Aurora.
On Aug. 6, 1976, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Diane Kliewer. They made their home in Stockham, where they raised their two children, Kerry and Colt. Diane passed away Dec. 27, 2023.
Lonnie attended grade school in Stockham and graduated from Aurora High School in 1971. He then graduated from CCC-Hastings. Lonnie was a lifelong Stockham resident and attended Stockham Community Church.
He was a loyal and hard worker and spent time working for various farmers, however, most of his entire career was with Hamilton County on bridge and road crews and as the “maintainer man” for the Stockham area until he retired in 2016.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and exploring the riverbanks.
His hobbies included going to classic car shows, gun shows, watching classic car shows and old westerns, going to coffee, tending to a large garden, texting emojis to his grandkids, and attending many of the grandkids sports and activities. He loved cruising in his ‘67 Camaro or on his Harley-Davidson. He enjoyed many motorcycle trips together with Diane and friends throughout the years. He could also be seen putting daily miles on his four wheeler taking his dog Harley for a “walk.”
He had a silly side and some unique dry humor that will be missed. He was a man of few words, but he showed his love in his own way. A “check your oil and watch for deer” kind of guy.
He took great pride in his family and grandkids’ successes.
