Deweese resident Adrian J. Gruntorad, 79, was called by our heavenly Father to be his angel Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2025, at Mary Lanning Healthcare in Hastings.

Adrian was born March 7, 1946, in Nelson, to Rudolph and Helen (Maixner) Gruntorad. He received his high school diploma from Nelson High School in Nelson. Following high school, Adrian enlisted in the Navy as a Seabee. After he was honorably discharged, he married Colleen Nowka April 27, 1968, in Harvard. He explored several jobs before he found his love in farming- specifically donkeys. Adrian enjoyed taking care of his livestock and harvesting the fields. Adrian was a member of Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church in Deweese. His hobbies included fishing, watching western films, polka, and spending time with his family.

Adrian is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Sheri and Phillip Fuchs, of Oxford; two grandchildren, Daniel Fuchs, of Oxford; and Matraisha Fuchs, of Indianapolis, IN; sisters, Mildred and Celie; sister-in-law, Miriam Gruntorad, of Ordway, CO; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, his in-laws, Ray and Fern Nowka, and his brother, Marian Gruntorad.

A rosary was prayed at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2025, at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church in Deweese. Mass of Christian Burial took place at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2025, at the church with Father Denton Morris officiating. Interment followed at the St. Martin (Loucky) Cemetery near Deweese.
