Long-time Ong resident Donna Marie Johnson, 101, passed away Monday, Oct. 13, 2025, iat The Heritage at College View, Hastings.

Graveside service will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, Nov. 7, at Ong Cemetery, Ong. There will be no viewing or visitation. Memorials may be given to the Special Olympics.

Donna was born July 31, 1924, to Wilson and Vera (Woodhead) McLaughlin in Clay County. She graduated from Ong High School in 1941. Donna married Laurel Johnson Nov. 19, 1946.

Donna was a bookkeeper for the Co-Op in Ong for many years. She served as Treasurer for the Ong United Methodist Church and was an active member of the Ong United Methodist Women’s Club (UMC). She served as a representative to the United Methodist District.

Donna drove elementary students home from school in her Volkswagon and was a member of the school board for many years. Donna was secretary for the Ong Alumni Organization. She also served as a poll worker for elections in Clay County. Donna will be remembered for her humbleness, kindness, and willingness to serve her community.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents Wilson and Vera McLaughlin, her husband, Laurel A. Johnson and baby brother James McLaughlin.

She is survived by son David Johnson and daughter-in-law Carol (Eigenberg) Johnson of Omaha; Daughter Lois Reinke and son-in-law James Reinke of San Antonio, TX. She will be missed by many friends, nieces and nephews.
