Joan Uldrich

Joan Uldrich, the daughter of Lynn and Gwen (Vickers) Johnston, was born Jan. 11, 1935, in Shickley. She passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2025, at the Superior Good Samaritan Society in Superior at the age of 90 years, 9 months, 18 days.
She grew up in several communities, attending grade school in Oak and later graduating from Nelson High School. She was a member of the Methodist Church and then the Presbyterian Church of the Plains in Edgar. In 1954, after graduating high school, Joan married Morris Skinner. This union was blessed with three children, Marcus, Michael, and Mitzi. In 1961, her marriage to Jack Skinner added another son, David, to the family. She later married Leland Uldrich and they spent many years of happiness together. Joan resided on a farm just outside Edgar where she raised her children. She was a devoted mother. Joan was a Boy Scout leader and took pride in her many years of active participation with the Oregon Trail reenactment. She also enjoyed sewing crafts, babysitting and loved following the Husker football games. She devoted many years to her church as an Elder, secretary, bookkeeper and member of the Presbyterian Women.
Joan’s favorite role was that as a parent and grandparent. She treasured her time with her children, grandchildren and the children in the community.
She had a soft heart for her beloved Maltese, Anne, who became her companion in later years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved sons, Marcus and Michael; her granddaughter, Jennifer; and her spouses, Leland Uldrich, Jack Skinner, and Morris Skinner.
She is survived by her children: Mitzi (Jeff) Manka of Litchfield Park, AZ, David Skinner of Prosser; daughter-inlaw, Patricia Skinner, of Edgar; sister, Barbara Oltmans, of Omaha; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 15, 2025, at the Church of the Plains in Edgar, with Pastor Stuart Davis officiating.
Recorded music selections of “How Great Thou Art,” “One Day At A Time,” and “Amazing Grace.”
Honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren, Mike Skinner, Mary Kenley, Haley Kent, Brittaney Skinner, Brandon Skinner, and John Skinner.
Inurnment in the Edgar City Cemetery at Edgar. Memorials are suggested to go to the Church of the Plains, 407 N. C Street, Edgar, NE 68935.
