Arlene Hensley, age 90, formerly of Clay Center, passed away Nov. 11, 2025, at Harvard Rest Haven in Harvard.

Funeral services were Monday, Nov. 17, 2025, at Apfel Funeral Home in Hastings. Burial was in the Clay Center Cemetery. Online condolences may be left at www. apfelfuneralhome.com. Memorials are suggested to Good Samaritan Hospice or the family.

Arlene Fay Stahnke was born Aug. 6, 1935, to Robert and Mary Ann Stahnke in Fairfield. The family moved to Clay Center, where she attended Clay Center Public Schools and graduated in 1953. She was united in marriage to Charles Hensley Jan. 2, 1953. To this union four children were born, Steven, Sheryl, Judy, and Brenda. Arlene was a homemaker while her children were young, then she worked at Leverage Tools Manufacturing in Glenvil, Clay Center Cleaners, and she retired from Dahlsten Truck Lines in Clay Center. Arlene enjoyed cooking, baking, canning, fishing, traveling to Colorado and Wyoming, and spending time with her family. She was a member of the American Legion Post #87 Women’s Auxiliary.

She is survived by her three daughters, Sheryl Shuck and husband, Tim, of Omaha, Judy Hensley of Ogallala, Brenda Earnhart and husband, David, of York, and step-daughter Gloria Hensley of Sutton; three granddaughters; three great- grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Arlene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; son, Steven; brothers, Alton and Earl; and, sisters Esther, Marie, Doris, and Hazel.
