Ronald J. “Ron” Wiese, 90, of Grand Island, formerly of rural Doniphan passed away Sunday, Dec. 28, 2025.

Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 4, at All Faiths Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday January 5th at 10:30 a.m. at S. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Grand Island. The Reverend Jeff Pedersen will officiate. Burial will follow at Westlawn Cemetery.

Ron was born at home in rural Alda, April 26, 1935 to Fred and Dora (Baasch) Wiese. Ron attended District 6 grade school where he met the love of his life, Ardis Nelson in 3rd grade. Ron graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1953. After graduation he worked in construction and as a transport driver for Texaco. On Nov. 8, 1955 Ron and Ardis were married at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Grand Island. They made their home in Grand Island before moving to an acreage northeast of Doniphan in 1970. Ron sold insurance for the Spiehs Agency with an office in Giltner for 41 years. He enjoyed visiting with customers and coffee at the Co-Op. He retired at age 80.

Ron enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting on the Platte River with his family and friends. He was very active in Ducks Unlimited at the local and state level and with the Central Nebraska Counsil of Alcoholism and Additions (CNCAA) as a board member and volunteer.

Ron and his wife Ardis enjoyed traveling, visiting friends, working on their acreage and most of all, spending time with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ron is survived by his children and their spouses, Rhonda (Ken) Winfrey of Hastings, Mike (Rachel) Wiese of Cedar Rapids, IA and Tami (Adam) Valencia of Alda; grandchildren, Nick Winfrey of Omaha, Jake (Taylor) Winfrey of Lincoln, Andrew (Nya) Wiese of Cedar Rapids, IA, Colin O’Shaughnessy-Wiese of Seattle, WA, Jessica Norton of Eugene, OR, Abby (Josiah) Young of Hastings, Evan (Eden) Valencia of Gibbon, Katie Valencia of Hearne, TX, Georgia, Luke and Graciella Ardis Valencia of Alda; great-grandchildren, Harper, Crosby and Calvin Wiese, Evelynn, Annalise, and Lydia Young, and William Winfrey.

Ron is also survived by his brother, Jack Wiese of Grand Island, sisters, Joyce (Harold) Sheen of Kearney and Connie (CB) McQuistan of Fremont, sister-in-law, Verna Hamilton of Cody, WY, and many nieces, nephews and good friends.

Preceding Ron in death was his wife of 62 years, Ardis, his parents and sisters-in-law, Bea Wiese and Elnora Weinrich, brothers-in-law, Dale Weinrich and Gerald Nelson, and nephew, John Wiese.

Ron’s family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Good Samaritan Village of Grand Island and Dr. Crouch and Dr. Alberts.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Ducks Unlimited or CNCAA of Grand Island.
