Lincoln resident Judy Fuehrer, 82, passed away Sunday, Nov. 30, 2025, at the Gateway Vista Assisted Living Facility in Lincoln.
A celebration of life and service is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026, at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 8550 Pioneers Blvd, Lincoln. The service will begin at 2 p.m., with an opportunity to enjoy refreshments and visit with family and friends thereafter.
Judith (Judy) Ann Fuehrer was born April 4, 1943, to Erwin and Edith (Heinz) Schmidt in her grandma Martha Heinz’s home in Sutton. After graduating from Sutton High School in 1961, she and her high school sweetheart, Richard Lee Fuehrer, were united in marriage May 23, 1964, at Zion Lutheran Church in Sutton. To this union, their son, Cory, was born just before lunch Dec. 1, 1966, at Lincoln General hospital. Judy was again united in marriage to Ron Huff Aug. 21, 2020, at Brentwood Estates in Lincoln. They resided there until moving to Gateway Vista in Lincoln in 2022. Judy worked as a medical technologist and occasional x-ray technician for more than 40 years before retiring in 2010. Her career included time at Kearney Medical Clinic, Henderson Community Hospital, St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Lincoln, Lexington Regional Health Center, Gothenburg Memorial Hospital and finally retiring from Antelope Memorial Hospital in Neligh.
Judy enjoyed playing the piano, gardening, reading, journaling, being a grandmother, as well as spending time with her friends and cats. She loved to sit down with a cup of coffee and simply “people-watch” in busy public places. As well, she treasured time at “the cabin” near Norden. Judy was known for her contagious smile as acquaintances marveled at how she lit up a room. That smile was supported by Judy’s admirable sense of humor.
In recent years, Judy was an early adopter of Alexa and smart TVs. These tools, along with catalog shopping, filled her time finding just the right gift for loved ones.
Judy is survived by her husband, Ronald Huff, of Lincoln; son Cory and daughter-in-law, Jodi (Peters) Fuehrer of Firth; granddaughter Madison (Mason) Wilken Fuehrer of Douglas, and granddaughter Sydney Fuehrer of Omaha; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the People’s City Mission of Lincoln.
