The family moved several times during the war years, but she received most of her public-school education in Denver. She married Robert M. Bader June 21, 1953. They lived on the family farm five miles south of St. Francis, KS. Two of their children, Rachel and Bob were born in St. Francis. In 1963 the family moved to Grand Island. It was there that they had another child, Ruth. After the children were raised, Delsie attended classes at CCC in Grand Island and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was employed by Wedgewood Nursing Home for 24 years. Delsie and her husband moved to Sutton in 2003. Delsie worked part time for one year at Sutton Community Home before she retired at the age of 70.

Delsie continued to enjoy attending several activities for seniors and socializing with many friends. Her hobbies were crafts and crocheting. She was a member of Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church.
