Harvard resident Wanda Lee Smith, 79, passed away Monday, Jan. 26, 2026, at Harvard Rest Haven in Harvard, surrounded by her family.
Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Feb. 2, 2026, at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel in Clay Center, with Pastor Dave Johnson officiating. Interment followed at the Clay Center Cemetery in Clay Center. Visitation was one hour before the services Monday, at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel, in Clay Center. Condolences may be left at www. mclaughlinchapel.com Wanda Lee (Conrad) Smith was born June 9, 1946, in Red Cloud, to Claude and Mary Conrad. She received her education at Red Cloud and then at Nelson. Wanda was united in marriage with Jack Smith April 12, 1964, in Nelson. They spent 33 wonderful years together. This marriage was blessed with two children, Rodney and Wende.
She was employed with GW Market in Clay Center, EBKO Boat factory in Clay County, and Harvard Rest Haven in Harvard. She loved spending time with her kids, grandkids, great-grandchildren, and friends. She loved camping at Lovewell Lake in Kansas, playing pitch with the family, decorating cookies, playing balloon toss, and having her nailcare in Assisted Living. She was also a big fan of Elvis Presley.
She was a member of the Clay Center Christian Church in Clay Center.
Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Smith; parents, Claude and Mary Conrad; mother/father-in-law, Dorthy and Hollis Smith; brother-in-law, Don Smith; sister/brotherin- law, Maryann and Arnold Lambert; grandchildren, Waylon and Madelyn Smith and Baby Lambert.
Survivors include her son, Rodney (Sharon) Smith of Clay Center; and daughter, Wende (Larry) Kroger of Harvard; grandchildren, Cassandra (John) Zimmer of Wakeeney, KS; Anthory (Niki) Smith of Hays, KS; Alisha VanDyke of Hays, KS; Brenden Smith of Hutchinson, KS; Sydney Smith of Clay Center; Riley (Dakota) Lambert of Clay Center; and Heather (Michael) Cowell of Manhattan, KS; great-grandchildren, Ahonora; Noah; Hezekiah; Isabella; Emma; Juile; Adler; Charlotte; Sariah; Hayden; Cailyn; and Magnolia; as well as numerous of nieces, nephews, and friends.
