Billie Whithorn, born Oct. 20, 1934, in Taft, CA, passed away Febr. 8, 2026, surrounded by the legacy of a life rooted in family, faith, and service.

Billie was the beloved daughter of Richard and Lena (Cox) Rosson. After graduating from Arroyo Grande Community College, she began her career with the Department of Defense. It was during this time that she met Russell Jacobs, a young Navy sailor from Edgar. Together they built a family and welcomed three children. Billie later made her home in Edgar, where she devoted herself to raising her children and becoming an active part of the community. She taught Sunday school, sharing her faith and kindness with generations of local children, and worked at the local café, where she was well known for her warm spirit and friendly smile.

Later in life, Billie married Warren Grossman. After Warren’s passing, she found love again and married Clarus Whithorn, with whom she shared her later years.

Billie is survived by sister, Ruth James; children, Richard Jacobs and wife, Eva, Sharon Jacobs and husband, Dale Mittlieer, and Russell Jacobs and wife, Susan; grandchildren, JaDonna, Jennifer, and Andrew; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren who carry forward her love and values.
