Douglas P. Leininger

Douglas Paul Leininger, 61, beloved husband of Lynda, passed away peacefully March 3, 2026, in Poolville, TX, following a courageous battle with cancer. Doug was born May 8, 1964 to Steve and Marcia (Weber) Leininger in Henderson. As a young boy, Doug engineered an irrigation system for his garden using spare parts from his dad’s farming equipment. This was the beginning of a lifelong love of anything mechanical. Doug built a career as an airplane mechanic for American Airlines. This came in handy for leisure as well. Doug loved working on classic cars and was very proud of his collection though the years. His favorite was a candy apple red ‘66 Ford Galaxie he restored to pristine condition. Doug enjoyed entering “Old Red” in car shows around the country.
Doug and Lynda loved to travel. Some of their favorite destinations were Hawaii, Maine, and San Deigo. Later, they purchased an RV and traveled to Yellowstone, Glacier National Park, and Mount Rushmore.
Doug was a devoted husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He is survived by his wife of over 20 years, Lynda; his mom, Marcia, of Sutton; siblings: Jeff (Kris), Todd (Patty), Kelli (Bryan), Tim, Matt (Cathy), and Amanda (Jason); many beloved nieces and nephews; and lots of extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his dad, Steve. Doug was a devout member of St. Stephen Catholic Church in Weatherford, TX. His faith was an essential part of his life. Even through illness, he remained strong in spirit. He always looked forward to visits from a priest and weekly visits from Diana, a family friend who brought communion.
Doug brought joy to so many. He will be forever remembered, loved, and missed.
