Sutton resident Anna Griess, 97, widow of Simeon Griess, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at the Sutton Community Home in Sutton. Anna was the oldest of six children born to Martin P. and Johanna Griess and lived her childhood years on a farm south of Grafton. She married Simeon in 1950, and they farmed northwest of Sutton, where they raised five children. They retired from farming and moved to Sutton. Simeon died in 2011. She is survived by her children, Ted (Shirley), Ruth Huber, Ron, Kathy (Doug) Douglas, all of Sutton, and Kurt (Renae) of Phillips; ten grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, parents, siblings Aaron, Luella Hunzeker, Loretta Huber, Roy and Calvin; son-inlaw, Milt Huber; and daughter-in-law, Leota Griess.

Memorial services were held Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Hope Reformed Church in Sutton with Pastor Scott Henry officiating. Private family interment was held prior to the memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Sutton Community Home.
