Sutton resident Gwendalyn Alyce Ochsner, 78, went to be with her savior Sunday, April 12, 2026, at her home surrounded by her family in Sutton. Gwen was born Dec. 12, 1947, to Harold and Margaret (Johnson) Jorgensen of Curtis. She was a devoted mother and wife. She selflessly loved and cared for her family. She impacted innumerable lives in her teaching career of 30-plus years, as well as in her everyday interactions over the course of her life. She loved the Lord with all her heart, soul, and mind, and was a true example of his love and kindness here on earth. She was in constant prayer in her final moments for those she loved. She is survived by her husband with whom she shared 10 blessed years full of love and joy, Raymond Ochsner of Sutton; her children from her first marriage who brought her immense joy, Amy (Nickerson) Jahnke of Sutton, Tim and his wife Courtney Nickerson of McCook, and Mary and her husband Shawn Overton of Shickley.

She loved spending time with her grandkids: Sam, Lydia and David Jahnke, Wyatt and Allisyn Nickerson, Hannah Crow and Aaron Vigneur, Kiyah and Rayanne Overton; brother, Richard and wife Sharon Jorgensen of Curtis; nephews, Mark and wife Lanis Jorgenson, Lorie and husband Mike Mortenson, Matt and wife Trisha Jorgensen, Stacie and husband Kevin Owens, and Steve Strawn; sister, Ann Jeanette Robinson of Kearney; nephews, John and wife Susan Robinson; Jeff and wife Kathy Robinson; Darren and wife Jennifer Robinson; niece and nephew, Angela Nida and Ryan Walsh of her late sister Diane Walsh; stepdaughter, Angela Ochsner and Autumn Ochsner; grandchildren, Mathew Ochsner, Braelyn Ochsner, Tyler Ochsner, and several adopted grandchildren.

Gwen was preceded in death by her first husband, Milo Jo Nickerson; her parents, Harold and Margaret (Johnson) Jorgensen; her sister, Diane Walsh; her nephew, Steven Jorgensen; and stepsons, Matt Ochsner and Tommy Gassman.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Friday, April 17, 2026, at the Stockham Community Church in Stockham, with Pastor Rick Bartek officiating. Interment followed at the Sutton Cemetery in Sutton. Visitation was held Thursday, from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m., with the family present from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m., at Sutton Memorial Chapel in Sutton.
