Herbert O. Aspegren

Herbert Otto Aspegren, 87, passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at his home in Sutton. Herbert was born Sept. 14, 1938, in Saronville, to Melvin and Leona Aspegren. Growing up in the close-knit farming community of Saronville helped shape the hardworking, humble, and faithful man that Herb would become throughout his life.
At just 18 years old, Herb married the love of his life, Beverly, Nov. 1, 1957. Together they shared 53 wonderful years of marriage before Beverly’s passing. Their life together was built on faith, love, dedication, and family — a legacy that continues through the generations they created together.
Herb spent many years farming in Saronville, a life that taught him perseverance, patience, and the value of honest work. But his talents reached far beyond the fields. He helped build houses and churches throughout Saronville and Sutton, leaving behind structures that still stand as reminders of his craftsmanship and servant’s heart. His passion for serving God extended even farther, as he also supported the building of a church in Guatemala, something he cared deeply about.
Another one of Herb’s great passions was fixing and restoring cars. He enjoyed working with his hands, solving problems, and bringing old things back to life. Whether in the workshop, on the farm, or helping someone in need, Herb found joy in working hard and sharing his talents with others.
Herb was blessed with four children: Timothy, Bonna, Kimberly, and Dawna, along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he loved deeply. Spending time with his family brought him tremendous joy, and the love he gave was returned many times over. His family knew him as a steady presence, a caring father and grandfather, and someone who was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Herb also had a special place in his heart for animals, and dearly loved spoiling his pets. They brought him comfort, companionship, and happiness throughout his life.
Friday nights often found Herb at Kam Raceway, where he loved enjoying the races and spending time with his family. It was one of the simple joys in life that he truly cherished.
Faith was the foundation of Herb’s life. He loved the Lord deeply, and it was important to him to share that love and faith with others. Through his actions, kindness, generosity, and quiet strength, Herb lived out the values he believed in every day.
After the passing of Beverly, Herb was fortunate to find love again with Dot Spencer and they married on September 14, 2014. They shared seven wonderful years together before Dot’s passing, bringing companionship, joy, and comfort into each other’s lives.
Herb had an incredible influence on the lives of so many people. He will be remembered for his strong faith, hardworking spirit, generous heart, and deep love for his family and friends. He will be dearly missed, but the impact of his life will continue for generations to come.
