Hastings resident Marcia L. VomWeg, 74, passed away Thursday, June 25, at Perkins with her family by her side.

Marcia was born to Louis and Elaine (Hinrichs) Naggatz Nov. 23, 1951. She married Wayne VomWeg April 27, 1974, and to this union, two children were born: Heather and Corey.

Marcia dedicated her life to caring for others through her work as a nurse at both Mary Lanning and as a school nurse with Hastings Public Schools. Her compassion, kindness, and gentle spirit touched the lives of countless patients, coworkers, friends, family members, and former students throughout her career. Outside of nursing, Marcia found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an avid reader who could often be found with a good book in hand. She had a deep love of music and especially enjoyed playing the organ, sharing her gift, and bringing comfort and happiness to those who heard her play. She also had a special love for animals, especially her Chihuahua Izzy, and her favorite birds and squirrels outside her window at the nursing home.

Above all, Marcia will be remembered for her caring heart, quiet strength, and unwavering love for her family and friends.
