Hastings resident Ivan J. “Stub” Bengtson, 86, passed away Monday, Sept. 21, 2026, at his home in Hastings.

Ivan was born July 6, 1940, to Oscar and Gladys (Johnson) Bengtson. He married Glenna Brewer on Sept. 18, 1960. Ivan owned Bengtson Construction for 59 years and took great pride in building beautiful homes for clients.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Gladys; siblings, Carol “Swede” Bengtson, Rose Marie Justice, and Helen “Toots” Keiper. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Glenna; daughter, Michele (Bill) Haas; son, Craig (Denise) Bengtson; grandchildren, Chase (Alyssa) Bengtson, Colton (Hailee) Bengtson, and Nicole Haas; great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Annabelle, and Tate; sister-in-law, Carole Bengtson; and several nieces and nephews. Services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026, at Butler Volland Chapel in Hastings with Dr. Richard French officiating. Burial was at Greenwood Cemetery in Trumbull. There was a visitation Friday, Sept. 25, from 1 to 6 at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
