Harvard resident, Frances M. Brenneman, 97, passed away, Saturday, June 25, 2016, at the Harvard Rest Haven, Harvard. Services will be Saturday, July 2, 2016, at 10 a.m., at the First Methodist Church, Harvard with Pastor Travis King officiating. Burial will be in the Harvard Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, July 1, 2016, from 5-8 p.m., with the family present from 7-8 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church, Harvard. Sutton resident, Darlene Denise Kauk, 85, passed away Friday, June 24, 2016, at Mary Lanning Healthcare in Hastings, NE. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at the Federated Church in Sutton, NE with Pastor Mary Scott officiating. Interment will follow at the Sutton Cemetery. She received her education in Clay Center, NE, graduating in 1948. On June 30, 1949, she married Don Kauk at the Harvard Evangelical Church Parsonage. As a child, she was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Evangelical Church in Clay Center, NE. Later, she became a member of the Federated Church in Sutton, NE.

Marvin Carriker, age 86, of Harvard, passed away Thursday, June 23, 2016, at Memorial Hospital in Aurora. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Monday, June 27, at the First United Methodist Church in Harvard. Pastor Travis King officiated. Interment was in the Harvard Cemetery. Marvin LeRoy Carriker, the son of LeRoy Strawn and Erma Katherine (Keller) Carriker was born in Harvard, NE, on Nov, 21,1929 and passed away in Aurora, NE, on June 23, 2016, at the age of 86 years, seven months and two days. Marvin was the sixth of eight children. He was baptized on Feb. 15, 1931, at his parent’s home. He spent many hours playing along a creek near his childhood home, north of Harvard. Marvin graduated from Harvard High School Class of 1947.

Harvard resident, Ronald D. “Gus” Glantz, 62, passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at his home. Services were Monday, June 27, 2016, at 2 p.m., at United Church of Christ, Harvard, with Pastor Dave Johnson officiating. Burial was in First Evangelical Cemetery, north of Harvard. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date. Visitation was Sunday, June 26, 2016, 1–7 p.m., with family present 5-7 p.m., at the funeral home and one hour prior to service at the church. ROBERT W. SWANSON

Robert "Bob" Willis Swanson of Edgar, NE, the son of Tage T. and Elva (Gowen) Swanson was born Aug. 8, 1926, at Ong, NE. He passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2016, at Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings, NE, at the age of 89 years. Bob graduated from Ong High School. In 1955, Bob was united in marriage to Edythe A. Cramer. In 1990, Bob married Jean (Jacobs) Shaw. In 1955, Bob and Edythe lived in Colorado until 1964. He was a heavy equipment operator in the 1960s. In 1964, Bob moved to Auburn, CA, and 1975, he moved to Paradise Valley, AZ, until 2006. Bob moved to Edgar in 2006, and made Edgar his home until the time of his death. Bob had been a member of the Operating Engineers Local #3. During the 1970s, Bob worked on the Alaska pipeline and when he lived in Arizona, Bob was a member of the Operating Engineers local 428 from 1975 until his retirement in the mid 1980s. Bob had always been very active. He enjoyed shooting pool, playing golf and hunting almost anything that flew.

BONNIE HOFFMAN

Bonnie Hoffman, age 70, of Hampton, went to heaven on Saturday, June 4, 2016, at Bryan/LGH West in Lincoln. A memorial service was held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 8, at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York. Rev. Mike Neidow officiated. Inurnment was in the Immanuel Cemetery northwest of Polk. Bonnie Jean Hoffman, the daughter of Clarence and Edna (Bolte) Burhoop, was born in York, NE, on June 19, 1945, and passed away in Lincoln, NE, on June 4, 2016, at the age of 70. She grew up in the Waco area and graduated from Waco High School. On June 18, 1966, she married Larry Lee Hoffman. They lived in Bradshaw. When they moved to the Fairmont area, Bonnie worked at the Fairmont School and Fairmont Nursing Home. After they moved to Hampton, she worked at Hamilton Telecommunications and later Casey’s, both located in Aurora.

ROBERT J. SAMUELSON

Hastings resident Robert J. Samuelson passed away June 8, 2016, in a tragic car accident. Funeral services were at Trumbull United Methodist Church in Trumbull, NE, on Monday, June 13, at 10:30 a.m., with Dr. Reverend Lee Wigert officiating. Visitation was Sunday, June 12, from 5 to 7 p.m., also at Trumbull United Methodist Church where he was confirmed and a life member. Burial was at Greenwood Cemetery, outside of Trumbull and there was a luncheon following the burial at the Trumbull Community Center. Memorials may be given to the family. Murray Wilson Funeral Directing is in charge of the arrangements. Bob was born in Hastings, NE, on Dec. 30, 1944, to Ivor and Evelyn (Hawthorne) Samuelson of Trumbull, NE. He graduated from Trumbull High School class of 1963, then attended Hastings College and graduated in 1966. Bob married Marlene K. Kalberg on Jan. 26, 1963, in Hastings, NE, and began his career in the swine industry, where he devoted 35 years to developing the farm.
