Nita M. Snow

Glenvil resident Nita M. Snow, 71, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2019, at Mary Lanning Healthcare in Hastings, after a year-long battle with cancer.

Private family services were at Butler Volland Chapel in Hastings. Private family burial will be at a later date. Book signing was Friday, Nov. 15, from 1– 5 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 16, from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society. Private condolences may be sent to the family at www.lbvfh.com. Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home & Cremation Center is serving the family.

Nita was born Aug. 30, 1948, in Rawlins, WY, to David C. and Juanita (Clark) Danford. She graduated from Rawlins High School and attended college. Nita married Larry D. Snow on May 9, 1969, in Hastings; he preceded her in death on July 11, 1996.

Guy A. Wuger

Guy A. Wuger, 69, of Stoutsville, MO, passed away on Friday, Oct. 18, 2019.

Guy was born Dec. 11, 1949, in Faulkton, SD, to Charles and Lavina “Bonnie” (Vogeler) Wuger. He graduated from Faulkton High School in 1968. He married Jane Lansford, the love of his life, on May 25, 1974, in Clay Center, and they made their home in nearby Sutton, for more than 40 years. They had recently moved to Stoutsville, MO, to be closer to their children and grandchildren.

Guy was employed as truck driver most of his life and loved being on the road. He spent his free time working on home improvement projects, tinkering in his shop and restoring and collecting toy tractors. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his four grandchildren.

Sutton resident Marion Griess, 93, passed away Sunday, Nov. 10, 2019, at Memorial Hospital in Aurora.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 14, 2019, at Sutton Memorial Chapel in Sutton, with the Free German Reformed Salem Church Elders officiating. Interment will follow at the Free German Reformed Salem Church Cemetery near Sutton, NE. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 1 p.m. – 8 p.m., with the family present from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m., at Sutton Memorial Chapel in Sutton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family.

Fairfield, resident Timmie “Tim” L. Abell, 65, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2019, at Mary Lanning Healthcare in Hastings.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 9, 2019, at the Clay Center Christian Church in Clay Center, with Pastor Arick Johanson officiating. Interment was Monday, Nov. 11, 2019, at Greenlawn Cemetery in Afton, IA. Visitation was Friday, from 1 p.m.–8 p.m., with the family present from 6 p.m.–8 p.m., at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel in Clay Center.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family to be designated later.

Former Glenvil resident Joyce L. Bohlen, 86, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 5, at College View Assisted Living & Memory Support in Hastings.

Services were at 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 8, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Glenvil, with Pastor Rob Garton officiating. Burial was at Glenvil Cemetery in Glenvil. Visitation was held from 1-8 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home with family present 5-7 p.m., and one hour prior to service at the church. Memorials may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Glenvil. David W. Babcock

David Wesley Babcock, the son of Robert and Irma N. (Pinnell) Babcock, was born April 7, 1943, at Arnold. He departed this life on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2019, at Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings at the age of 76 years.

Dave attended school in Arnold, and later graduated from Dunning High School with the class of 1961. On Oct. 25, 1961, he was united in marriage to Pat Hable at Broken Bow.

Dave had been employed at Kapals as a mechanic and also drove truck. While in Broken Bow, Dave drove stock cars at the Custer County Fairgrounds until one night, he lost control jumped the track and hit a tree. From that time on, he stopped stock car racing and began drag racing with the family car. While in Broken Bow, son Gene was born and later daughter Beth was born in Callaway. Dave had been an active member of the Jaycees in Broken Bow. Dave then moved to Loup City, NE and worked for Darcy Erickson.

Bryan M. Taylor

Bryan M. Taylor, 51, of DeKalb, IL, died at his home, Friday, Oct. 25, 2019, from ALS.

He was born July 9, 1968, in Kearney, the son of Michael R. and Vonda M. (Williams) Taylor. He was raised in Edgar and graduated from Sandy Creek H.S. in 1986. Bryan married Hillary J. Schmitz on May 31, 2014.

Bryan was baptized a christian at the Edgar Christian Church; and was a member of First Lutheran Church in DeKalb. He attended the University of Nebraska and then later transferred to Northern Illinois University where he received his Bachelor of Science degree. He was a Registered Surgical Nurse employed by Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb for over 25 years, where he earned Nurse of the Year in 2017. Bryan was active in scouts and was himself an Eagle Scout. He was a vinyl record enthusiast and enjoyed going to concerts.

Vera “Peggy” I. Smith

Vera “Peggy” I. Smith, 96, of Lincoln, passed away Oct. 26, 2019. Peggy was born Oct. 8, 1923, in Harvard, the daughter of Marshall and Merna (Davison) Turner. She was a member of the Columbia Chapter OES #275 and she faithfully attended Northeast Missionary Church for many years.

Survivors include her daughters, Sandra (Terry) Anderson, of Loveland, CO; and Laurie (Tommy) Brown, of Lincoln; grandchildren Jamie (Robert) Papp, Timothy Johnston, Andrew (Kylee) Brown, and Matthew (Brittany) Brown; seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 30, at Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation was on Tuesday, Oct. 29, at Roper and Sons Funeral Home, 4300 ‘O’ Street, from 4-7 p.m., with family present from 5-7 p.m.

Memorials may be given to Northeast Missionary Church, 3333 N. 66th Street, Lincoln, NE 68507.

Norma Faye Bonin

Norma Faye Bonin was born to Clinton Ford Simonton and Sadie Marie (Rentschler) Simonton on March 25, 1938 in Santa Ana, CA, and passed away on Oct. 16, 2019, at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva, at the age of 81. She was one of four children in her family.

At the age of two, Faye and her parents moved back to Davenport, where Faye’s parents were raised. There she attended country school and graduated from Davenport High School in 1955. She then went to college for her teacher’s certificate in Fairbury.

Haley N. (Shroyer) Bohlen

Haley Nicole (Shroyer) Bohlen, the daughter, of Dennis and Stacey (Way) Shroyer, was born on Dec. 29, 1987, in Superior. She passed away on Oct. 7, 2019, due to a car accident near Fairfield, at the age of 31 years, 9 months, 8 days.

Haley was baptized on April 24, 1988, by Rev. Steven Tjarks and confirmed on Oct. 27, 2002, by Rev. Dan Hayes at Salem Lutheran Church. She was a Superior High School graduate with the class of 2006 and she received her Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education from Central Community College. She was united in marriage to Cody Bohlen on Aug. 6, 2011, in Deweese; this union was blessed with three daughters, Bayleigh, Breckyn and Beckett.
