Ronald Gene Juranek, left this life peacefully on Saturday, March 12, 2016, at his home in Fairfield, NE, surrounded by his family. He had recently been diagnosed with lung cancer and was undergoing treatment at the time of his death. Ronald , the first-born child of John and Florence (Artrup) Juranek, was born Oct. 9, 1934, in Fairfield. He graduated from Fairfield High School in 1952. On Oct. 9, 1953, Ron's 19th birthday, he married the love of his life, Betty Ann McCullar. They were married for over 61 years. To this union, three children were born, Randy, Joni and Dale. Their children all lived within 20 miles of Fairfield and would come visit their parents' home every Sunday afternoon, where they would sit around the dining table laughing and reminiscing. Ron said his children's visit were the highlight of his week.

WILFORD A. LEACH

Wilford Albert Leach was born in Hyannis, NE, Oct. 9, 1924, to Bert and Dagmar (Jensen) Leach. He passed away on Feb. 26, 2016, at the Sutton Community Home in Sutton, NE. Wilford grew up on the family ranch near Arthur, NE. In 1941, the family moved to a ranch south of Johnstown, NE. Wilford graduated from Ainsworth High School with the class of 1942. He enlisted in the United States Navy Air Corps in July 1943, as a B-24 Liberator gunner. When he returned home, he engaged in ranching and farming at the family ranch. Doris Jean Botsford was Wilford’s high school sweetheart and the love of his life. Being a man of few words, when he was home on leave from the Navy, he handed Doris a box. When she opened it and saw a ring inside, she said "Does this mean you want to get married?" They were married as soon as he returned from the war on June 26, 1946. Four sons were born to this union, Jerry, Gary, Lanny and Bert.

Hastings resident Loretta Ann Saddler, 73, passed away Thurs., March 3, 2016, at her home. Services were Monday., March 7, 2016, 10:30 a.m., at Evangelical Free Church, Hastings, with Pastor Jay Towell officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery, Trumbull. Memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date. Visitation was Sunday, March 6, 2016, 4–6 p.m., with family present at the funeral home, and one hour prior to service at the church. Private condolences may be sent to the family at www.lbvfh.com. Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home & Cremation Center is serving the family. Loretta was born Feb. 6, 1943, in Hastings, NE, to Jesse and Bernice (Dunkle) Barnes. She graduated from Clay Center High School and college, where she received her degree in dental assisting. Loretta married Ronald Saddler on April 21, 1963, at the Clay Center Christian Church.

KATHRYN C. BISHOFF

Kathryn (Cotty) Bishoff, 91, of Harvard, passed away Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016, at the Harvard Rest Haven in Harvard. Rosary was held at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Harvard, with Father Julius Tvrdy officiating. Mass of Resurrection will be Wednesday, at 4 p.m., also at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Burial was in the Harvard Cemetery. She was born on March 4, 1924, in Harvard, NE, to Frank and Irene Sutton Bishoff. Kathryn was employed as the Harvard Public Schools school secretary for 47 years, from 1943–90. She was a lifelong member of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Harvard. Survivors include many cousins. Preceding her in death are her parents, Frank and Irene Sutton Bishoff. Also preceding are three sisters, Velma Bishoff, Regina Bishoff and Claudia Bishoff. Memorials may be given to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Harvard.

RONALD F. BRODRICK

WAYLAND, MA: Ronald Faris Brodrick of Wayland, MA, and of West Dennis, MA, died peacefully and with comfort on Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2016, following a brief illness. He was born in Fairfield, NE, on Sept. 27, 1919, the son of the late Carl A. Brodrick and Faris E. (Whitham) Brodrick. Ronald was the beloved husband for 58 years of Elizabeth Wentworth Brodrick, the love of his life, who died on July 17, 2000. He is survived by his loving and devoted children, Susan E. Barrett and her husband, Edward Barrett of Winchester, MA; Kathleen A. Walker and her husband, Gary Walker of South Yarmouth, MA, John P. Brodrick and his wife, Carole (Costello) Brodrick of Westwood, MA and the late James T. Brodrick, who died in 1994. Cherished grandfather of Edward Barrett, III and his wife, Carolyn Barrett; Andrew Barrett; Elizabeth Somerville and her husband, Jeromy Somerville; Sarah Brandt and her husband, Richard Brandt; Kaitlin Brodrick; Jessica Brodrick; Timothy Brodrick and Lisa Brodrick.

Grafton resident, Gary Jo Oates, 70, passed away suddenly Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016, at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva, NE. A celebration of life service will be 11 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 11, 2016, at the Federated Church in Sutton, NE, with Pastor Michael Fink officiating. Interment will follow at the Grafton Cemetery in Grafton, NE. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 5-8 p.m., at Sutton Memorial Chapel in Sutton, NE. Condolences may be left at www.suttonmemorial.com Gary was born on Aug. 3, 1945, in Geneva, NE, to Orville and Hazel (Elofson) Oates. He was the youngest of five children. His childhood was spent on the family farm southeast of Sutton. Gary attended Sutton Public School and graduated in 1963. In 1964, he married Karen Korensky and to this union were born three children: Bill, Julie and Kristy.
