Norma J. Finnegan May 24, 1931 - Oct. 25, 2017

Sutton resident, Norma Jeane (Arp) Finnegan, 86, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 25, at the Sutton Community Home in Sutton. Rosary was held at 7 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 29, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sutton. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m., Monday, Oct. 30, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with Father Michael Zimmer officiating. Interment followed at Holy Cross Cemetery in Grafton. Visitation was Sunday, from 1-5 p.m., at Sutton Memorial Chapel in Sutton. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Legion Auxiliary Argonne Unit #61. Condolences may be left at www.suttonmemorial.com. Norma Jeane (Arp) Finnegan was born May 24, 1931, at Harvard, to Albert and Lillian (Milroy) Arp. She graduated from Grafton High School. She married Joseph Finnegan on June 6, 1950, in Grafton. She was employed with Ted’s OK Tires in Sutton. Norma spent many hours enjoying hobbies such as needlepoint and plastic canvas.

Darlene (Ahrens) Synek Dec. 4, 1943 - Oct. 28, 2017

Edgar resident, Darlene (Ahrens) Synek, 73, departed this life Saturday, Oct. 28, at Fillmore County Hospital, Geneva. Memorial services will be Thursday, Nov. 2, 11 a.m., at First St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Hastings, with Pastor Joel Remmers officiating. Private family burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Concordia University at Seward for teachers’ scholarships. There will be no viewing or visitation. Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home and Cremation Center is serving the family. Darlene was born Dec. 4, 1943, to Walter Erich and Esther Marie (Reiners) Ahrens at Hastings. She was baptized on Dec. 14, 1943, and confirmed on April 14, 1957, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Kenesaw. Darlene married Richard Synek on Nov. 20, 1965, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Kenesaw. Darlene attended elementary school at St.

Don L. Williams April 17, 1930 - Oct. 15, 2017

Don Larry Williams was born on April 17, 1930, to Frank and Estella (Fayle) Williams at the hospital in Hastings. Don passed away Oct. 15, at Fairview Nursing Home in Fairmont, at the age of 87. He was the younger of two children. Don enlisted and served in the Navy in 1948, serving his tour of duty and six years in the reserve. He was very proud to have served on the USS aircraft carrier Valley Forge. He was a longtime member of the Shickley American Legion Post 164. Don married Donna Rose Andersen on Dec. 28, 1952, at the Methodist Church in Ong. To this union one daughter, Cindy, and three sons, Barton, Randy and Brad were born. Don and Donna lived all of their married life on their farm in rural Davenport. Don was a farmer his entire life. Don gave a lot of time to civic duties; he served on the Ong school board, NRD board of Directors and Nebraska Wildlife Federation for many years. He loved the outdoors and was an extremely avid and talented hunter and fisherman.

Ronald Congrove Jan. 28, 1935 - Oct. 13, 2017

Ronald ‘Ron’ Congrove passed away peacefully at home on Oct. 13. He was born in Fairfield in 1935, his father working between Fairfield and Douglas, AZ, during his childhood years. He settled in the Phoenix area after service in the U.S. Navy and graduating from college. He is survived by his wife Maxine (Classen) of 61 years. He primarily worked in manufacturing in the Phoenix area, officially retiring in 1997. He is also survived by his son, James, and daughter, Janet, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Ron was a wonderful provider as not only a husband, father and grandfather, but also to his church and scouting families. His final resting place will be at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. A celebration of his life will be held on Nov. 25, at 2:30 p.m., at his church home, Peace Lutheran located at 18265 N. 89th Avenue in Peoria, AZ.

Rose L. DeMoor Oct. 24, 1944 - Oct. 16, 2017

Hastings resident, Rose Louise (Leichleiter) DeMoor, 72, passed away Monday, Oct. 16, at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings. Memorial service was held Monday, Oct. 23, at 4 p.m., at All Saints Chapel-Good Samaritan Village, Hastings, with Pastor Charles Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Harvard Cemetery, Harvard at a later date. A memorial will be established in her name c/o Donna Soneson, 1001 West 15th, Ellis, KS 67637. DeMoor on May 12. Rose was a former seamstress for many years for a bridal shop in Hastings.

Garry Rudy March 23, 1942 - Oct. 17, 2017

Garry Rudy, 75, of Aurora, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 17, at the Memorial Hospital. A funeral service was at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 21, at the Stockham Community Church. Rev. Paul Nauman officiated. Interment was in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation was from 5-7 p.m., on Friday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Memorials may be made to the family to be designated at a later date. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.  Garry Eugene Rudy, the son of Kenneth George and Glena (Wagner) Rudy, was born in Grand Island on March 23, 1942, and passed away at Aurora on Oct. 17, 2017, at the age of 75. Garry grew up in the Giltner/Harvard area and graduated from Harvard High School in 1959. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served aboard the USS Long Beach, where he was a nuclear missile technician. Garry served for three years before being honorably discharged in March 1963.

Clarence M. Baldridge Nov. 16, 1938 - Oct. 12, 2017

Clarence Marion Baldridge, 78, entered into rest Oct. 12, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Lincoln. Clarence was born Nov. 16, 1938, in Belleville, KS, to Irma (Moe) and Earl Baldridge. He grew up on a farm south of Belleville and helped with farming and the family egg hatchery. Clarence graduated from Belleville High School in 1956. He then started his own combining business, Custom Harvesting. Survivors include his wife, Katherine Baldridge of Ashland; children, Robert Baldridge, Lincoln; Lorita Zohn (Rodney) of Norway, KS; Ron Baldridge (Ann) of Clay Center; Lea Little of Iverness, IL; Rae Stanley (Scott) of Lincoln; Vicki Vest of Ashland; George Jarrett of Scranton, AR and Lisa Miller (Nick) of Ashland; and sister, Ruth Meyer (Mick) of Lincolnville, KS, 19 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Clarence’s passion was the trucking industry.

Robert E. Nabb Jan. 1, 1924 - Oct. 13, 2017

Robert E. “Bob” Nabb, 93, a longtime resident of Fort Morgan, CO, passed away Oct. 13, at the Colorado Plains Medical Center in Fort Morgan. Bob was born Jan. 1, 1924, to Joseph and Ruth (Kitzinger) Nabb of Clay Center. He was raised on the farm and attended school in Clay Center, graduating from Clay Center High School in 1941. He met Dorothy Mark in Denver and they were married Feb. 16, 1943. They lived in Trinidad and Fort Collins during the 1940s. They moved to Nebraska and lived in Fairbury during the 1950s. Bob was employed in the Hatchery and Feed business. They moved to Fort Morgan in 1961. Bob was employed by the M & S Feed and Seed Company for five years. He worked for Farmland COOP of Brush for 22 1/2 years, retiring Sept. 1, 1988. Bob served as an assistant Scout Master. He served on the city council and as Mayor of Log Lane Village from 1972 through 1980. He is a member of the United Methodist Church.

Patrick L. Tolle Aug. 21, 1946 - Oct. 11, 2017

Patrick Larry Tolle was born at Rangely, CO, on Aug. 21, 1946, to Elzora (Adams) and Dale Tolle. His father worked in the oil field near Rangely and in 1950, the family moved to Clay Center and later to Edgar. Pat attended school in Edgar and graduated with the class of 1964. He worked for a short time at a farm dealership in Edgar. Pat served with the United States Army from December 1965 until his discharge from service in December 1967. He continued his formal education by attending North Eastern Jr. College at Sterling, CO, for two years, the University of Northern Colorado at Greeley for four years, receiving his Bachelor of Arts Degree and Emporia State University for three years in Denver, where he earned his Master’s Degree. While attending EmporiaCollege he was united in marriage with Margaret “Tolle.” Pat had been in the construction business with partner Richard Graff.
