Mary Belle Graham, age 91, was born on July 30, 1927 in Bates County Missouri to Archie Lee and Edna Irene (Gilmore) Evans. She was the older sister to two brothers Jimmie Lee and Arthur LaRue. She passed peacefully, surrounded by family, on Sept. 21. Mary Belle attended primary grades in Butler, MO. and graduated from Northeast High School in Kansas City, MO., where she excelled at her studies, at basketball and was active in her church. Upon high school graduation, Mary Belle took the civil service test and accepted a job at GSA in Kansas City. In November 1947, she married William Tindall II, and they were blessed with three sons and a daughter. The family later moved to Lake Lotawana, MO. Mary Belle was active in her community and recorded the minutes for City Council Business. On April 1, 1966, Mary Belle was united in marriage to Robert Hugh Graham who preceded her in death on Aug. 8, 1987. They were blessed with two daughters. In 1970, Bob and Mary Belle left GSA for the Roman L. Hruska, Meat Animal Research Center in Clay Center. Mary Belle later accepted a job at the ASCS office in Clay Center. Mary Belle had a deep affection for her Clay Center community. She participated in plays, helped with community celebrations, belonged to several groups such as Mrs. CCs and PEO and she was an active member of the United Church of Christ in Clay Center. Mary Belle was honored to serve on the Clay Center City Council for 20 years. After 4o years in Clay Center, Mary Belle moved to Mable Rose Assisted Living in Papillion. Mary Belle is survived by three sons, William D. Tindall III, Gary Lee and Charlene Tindall and Duane L. and Jill Tindall; three daughters, Suzanne D. and Ronald Cox, Martha Irene and Tim DeJung, and Mary Bobeth Calkins; 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 27, at the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel in Butler, MO., with burial in the Oakhill Cemetery in Butler.
