Mary Ann (Buller) Rath, age 89, of Aurora, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2018, at Memorial Community Care. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 8, at the Stockham Community Church. Rev. Paul Nauman and Pastor Vance Christie will officiate. Burial service will be at 9:45 a.m., at the Stockham Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Mary Ann Rath, the daughter of John D. and Dora (Doell) Buller, was born in York County near Bradshaw on Oct. 31, 1929, and passed away in Aurora on Nov. 4, at the age of 89. Mary Ann attended school in Bradshaw and graduated from Bradshaw High School in 1947. She attended Tabor College in Kansas and taught school near Henderson after college. Mary Ann was united in marriage to Wayne Allen Rath on Aug. 24, 1949, at Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson. They sold Pioneer Seed Corn and farmed near Eldorado for 35 years, before purchasing Daylight Donut Shop in Aurora, which they ran for 12 years. Mary Ann also owned and maintained several rental properties in Aurora. Wayne passed away on March 9, 2007. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wayne; and sons, Jack and Dale Lynn; four brothers, Dean, Grant, Dell and Denzil Buller; and a sister, Jean Thieszen. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Joann (Roger) Hattan of rural Aurora; daughter-in-law, Gail Rath of rural Aurora; grandchildren, Sage Rath of rural Aurora, Cody Rath of Grand Island; Lindsay Hattan of Omaha and fiancé, Matthew Gould of Lincoln; Jacque (Trevor) Carden of North Carolina; Cheyann (Duane) Donnell of Marquette; and Logan (Shelby) Rath of rural Giltner; great-grandchildren, Caiden Rath, Peyton Griffin, Laini Rath, Dodie Donnell and James Carden. She is also survived by brother-in-law, Albert Thieszen; sister-in-law, Evelyn Buller, and other family and friends.
