Simonsen, line play leads Sutton past Aquinas 46-21

Sutton’s football Mustangs put together one of their biggest performances of the season this past Friday night in David City, as the Mustangs, behind powerful offensive and defensive line play, and a record setting rushing night for senior Brett Simonsen, barreled through the Monarchs of Aquinas Catholic 46- 21 in the quarterfinal round of the Class C-2 playoffs. It marks Sutton’s first win over Aquinas, dating back to a 35-20 loss to the Monarchs in the 2012 Class C-2 state championship game, as well as a tough 55-16 loss in David City to the Monarchs in 2015. This night belonged to the Mustangs, and it started from the onset of the opening kickoff.
