Fairfield Council to decide fate of old city office

Fairfield’s main street building with the iconic landscape mural painted on the south side is about to be posted for sale, but potential buyers beware that a purchase comes with stipulations.

The former City of Fairfield office, located at 401 D Street, has some issues—the least being a bad roof. But the last thing the Fairfield City Council wants to see happen is for the building to fall into further disrepair.

The City Council deliberated possible solutions at its monthly meeting on Nov. 12 in the city auditorium.

City superintendent Jim Moore opened the discussion with a report on the condition of the old city office building, explaining the condition of the roof and how that is further compromising an already deteriorated indoor environment.
