Elsie Ochsner

Greeley, CO, resident Elsie Ochsner, 88, passed into glory on Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2022.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Friday, Feb. 18, 2022, at the Sutton Cemetery in Sutton, with Rev. Carl Gobelman officiating.

Elsie was born on Aug. 8, 1933, in Sutton, where she grew up on her family’s farm. At the age of eight, she was already milking cows and pitching in on a variety of chores from picking melons to canning produce.

She married her husband, Ewald, on Sept. 8, 1956, and spent her life caring for her family, neighbors, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a multitude of flowers and birds. She also worked at Hawthorne Elementa gs, and later worked at Ace Hardwarery School in Hastings, and later worked at Ace Hardware and at the Novaceks clothing store in David City.

Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Ewald; parents, Otto Griess and Martha (Huber); brothers, Ephraim, Daniel, and Jonathan; and sisters, Ruth and Rachel. She was also preceded in death by an infant brother, Ephraim.

She is survived by her brother, Curtis (wife Nadine); and sister, Salome (husband John); daughter, Linda (husband Albert); two sons, David (wife Margie) and James (wife Jenette); 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
