Helen Marie Dierberger was born on Jan. 20, 1934, in Clay Center to Ralph and Amanda (Nuss) Godtel and passed away on Feb. 11, 2022, in Lincoln, at the age of 88 years and 22 days.

Helen grew up in Clay Center where she attended school and graduated with the Class of 1951. She then attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for two years. On Nov. 8, 1953, she was united in marriage to Ted Dwain Dierberger in Clay Center. After their marriage, the couple moved to Seward where Ted worked with his father. Helen was an Avon Representative for 49 years. She was a member of the Seward Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday school. She was also a member of the M.E.L.D. Club and Mrs. Jaycees, Junior Women’s Club, Senior Women’s Club, and a life member of Seward V.F.W. Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ted; brother, Dean Godtel; sister, Doris Shockey; great-granddaughter, Aulana Hulbert.

Survivors cherishing Helen’s memory include her three daughters, Debra and husband, Ron Kramer Sr., Seward; Joan Sampson, Lincoln; Mary and husband, Jeff Hulbert, Lincoln; brother, James and wife, Arlene Godtel, Clay Center; five grandchildren, eight-great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Richard Shockey, York; sister-in-law, Nancy Godtel, Clay Center; nieces and nephews.

To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of a life shared with Helen.

Funeral services were Friday, Feb. 25, 2022 at 3 p.m. at Seward United Methodist Church in Seward, with Rev. Dr. Mary Kay Totty officiating the service.

Graveside Service and Interment was held Saturday, Feb.26 at 10:00 a.m., Greenwood Cemetery, Seward.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Shriners Children’s Hospital, c/o Zabka – Perdue Funeral Home.
