Naomi Griess

Sutton resident Naomi Griess, 98, died Sunday, March 27, 2022, at Legacy Square in Henderson.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, March 31, 2022, at Sutton Memorial Chapel in Sutton, with the Free German Reformed Salem Church Elders officiating. Interment will follow at the Free German Reformed Salem Church Cemetery near Sutton. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 1 to 7 p.m., with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m., at Sutton Memorial Chapel in Sutton.

A luncheon for family and friends will follow the services at the Sutton American Legion.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be given to the family to be designated later.

Naomi was born Oct. 3, 1923, to Daniel and Elenora (Huber) Griess in Fillmore County, NE.

She was baptized and confirmed in the Free German Reformed Salem Church. She received her education in Fillmore County School District No. 8. She was a homemaker.

Naomi was united in marriage to Hilmer Griess in Geneva, on March 16, 1943.

She and her husband farmed in Clay County until 1977, when they moved to Sutton.

She is survived by her children, Helen Griess of Sutton; Rachel (Dennis) Hartman of Omaha; Dan (Joanne) Griess of Sutton; Anna (BJ) Sievers of Henderson; LuElla (Lorraine) Hofmann of Sutton; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and brother, Pauly Griess of Sutton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hilmer; parents, Daniel and Elenora Griess; and sister, Marion Griess.
