Hastings resident Marcella H. Krieger, 98, passed to her heavenly home Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at The Heritage at College View in Hastings.

A Celebration of Life service will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 21, at First United Methodist Church in Hastings, with Rev. Lance Clay officiating. Burial will be at Parkview Cemetery Columbarium in Hastings. Visitation will be 1-7 p.m. with family present 5-7 p.m. Friday, May 20, at the funeral home and one hour before the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Nebraska P.E.O. Home, the Masonic Eastern Star Children’s Home, the First United Methodist Church, or the donor’s choice. Marcella was born on Dec. 26, 1923, to Richard and Claudia (Griess) Grosshans in Sutton. She graduated from Sutton High School in 1942. Following graduation, Marcella worked at the Hastings Employment Service and then attended the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. She married Marshall H. Krieger Oct. 28, 1945. They made their home in Hastings where Marcella was a homemaker and an office manager for the family business, Krieger Electric which she and Marshall established in 1950.

Marcella was active in many organizations. She was a member and past Matron of Acacia Chapter #39, Order of the Eastern Star; member and past Queen of Naamah Temple #108, Daughters of the Nile; charter member, past president and 75+ year member of P.E.O. Chapter FH; and a member of the First United Methodist Church and Chancel Choir for over 75 years.

Music was a big part of Marcella’s life. For over six decades, she served the community as a soloist for many funerals, weddings, and numerous other events. She also enjoyed being a member of the First United Methodist Church chancel choir.

Marcella was an avid bridge player. She enjoyed being a member of a number of bridge clubs and was, for many years, in charge of the Shrine Auxiliary Bridge Marathons.

She enjoyed her years of living at The Heritage at College View along with the many special friends and wonderful caregivers she had there.

Survivors include her three children and spouses: Paul and Lynette Krieger of Hastings; Scott and Tammy Krieger of Johnson Lake; and Susan Wooster Anderson and Andy of Tucson, AZ; 12 grandchildren: Scott Krieger, Jr. (Sarah); Stephenie Bauer (Jason); Laura Burgess (Paul); Henry Krieger; Thomas Krieger (Ashley); Josh Wooster; Troy Wortman (Rachele); Tara Wortman; Joseph Wooster (Theresa), Abraham Wooster (Pamela), Bernadette Wooster, and Matthew Wooster; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Marcella was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marshall; one brother; three older sisters; and a twin sister, Margaret Domercq.
