Robert Lee Laschanzky of Cortland, passed away Aug. 18, 2022, in Lincoln at the age of 84. Robert was born April 7, 1938, to Harry and Ruth (VanPatton) Laschanzky, at their home in Grafton, where he would grow up and attend Grafton Public School. Robert graduated from Grafton Public High School in 1955 and enlisted in the United States Navy. His time in the Navy was spent stationed at Pearl Harbor aboard the U.S.S. Jenkins where he served three tours to the Far East. After discharging from the Navy, he returned to Grafton and enrolled at Hastings College.

Robert married Kay Suzann Unterseher, also of Grafton, Feb. 14, 1962. They would be blessed with three boys, Robert Wayne, David Lee and Jeremy Scott.

In 1966 Robert moved his family to Springfield, IL where he would manage a mail order business for his brotherin- law. He would also earn his private pilots license and would own his own plane, a Cessna 172 Skyhawk, which he would take his family on flights around the Springfield area and also back and forth to Nebraska to visit family.

In 1975 Robert moved his family back to Nebraska where he would spend time as a county road engineer, civil engineer and the Village of Grafton’s Marshal. In 2011 Robert would lose his wife, Kay, to cancer after 49 years of marriage.

Robert enjoyed hunting, camping, vacationing to national parks, especially Yellowstone, and spending time with his grandkids. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, up to the age of 79.

Robert would end his working career as a meat cutter at Browns Grocery Store in Sutton, where he would finally retire and move to Cortland to be closer to his grandchildren.

Robert is survived by his three sons and their wives, Robert and Kelly of Stover, MO; David and Nancy of Cortland; and Jeremy and Kathy of Wellborn, FL; grandchildren: Dustin, Xavier, Raven, Brandon, Montana, Sierra, Sheyanne, Mollie, Jordan, and Jeralyn; and great-grandchildren; Somer, Lyric, Aryanna, Dominic, Rosalia, Mikey, Isaiah, and Elijah; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Bob Unterseher and wife, Deb, of Sutton, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Kay, his parents, Harry and Ruth, brothers, Richard and William, sisters, Virginia and Iva Donna, mother and father-in-law, Harold and Marjorie (Bruning)Unterseher, sister-in-law Jeanine (Unterseher)Dittmer.

A memorial service is planned for Sept. 10 at 10 a.m., at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Grafton, with Pastor Steven Kahrs officiating.
