Condolences may be left at www. suttonmemorial.com Gerti was born Jan. 3, 1946, in Aurora, to Carl C. and Clarice (Nuss) Griess; she was the youngest of their six children. On the family farm she found joy in riding their pony, playing with the cats, and especially loved the little terrier dog she shared with her dad.

On June 12, 1963, Gerti was united in marriage to Waldine C. Nuss. They made their home and raised their three children on a farm northeast of Sutton. Gerti was a homemaker and hardworking farmer’s wife, helping with yard work, continually cleaning, cooking from scratch, and supporting Wally by taking meals out to the field and driving to get parts. Gerti also worked at the Sutton florist shop, Ted’s OK Tires, the American Legion and later as a consultant for the Longaberger basket company. In 2015, Wally and Gerti (and her cats) moved into town to try their hand at retirement.

Over the years Gerti loved watching her immediate and extended family grow and was always delighted to welcome new spouses, new babies and family friends to her clan. She enjoyed many late nights of visiting and card playing with friends and family.

Nuss of Sutton; children, Gordon (Brenda) Nuss of Sutton; Karla (Brett) Snead of Council Bluffs, IA; Heidi (Aric) Warren of Stillwater, OK; grandchildren, Megan (Travis) Poli; Courtney Nuss; Mitchell (Nicole) Nuss; Jake (Paige) Nuss; Caleb Snead; Ethan Snead; Harper Snead; Henry Warren; Isaak Warren and Ella Warren; seven great-grandchildren; and sister, Ruth Griess.
